Others putting rubbish in our skip!

Hi there - we're having building work done, as are the neighbours across the road.
Yesterday neighbours were complaining that their skip had been filled with someone else's rubbish (no-one saw who dumped it). Their skip was removed this morning (as it was full of someone else's rubbish and so was no use to them). Today we've noticed that now our skip has been half-filled with someone else's rubbish.
Obviously this is annoying. I seem to remember that it's a criminal offence to dump rubbish in someone else's skip - is this correct? But even if so, I'm guessing the police will have better things to do than investigate, so is there anything we can do, other than lie in wait??
I'm guessing not, but would value any opinions

All you can do is lie in wait, unless you can find something with a name and address on it.0

I believe it is illegal to take from or put stuff in a skip without the renting owner's permission.
Skip companies can supply skips with lockable lids to prevent this however, they tend to be the larger sizes as you lose the ability to fill it beyond level height! If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0 -

This happened to us. Houses in our road are very expensive. Shame that ppl living in those houses are so cheap.
I put a note on the skip that there is a camera watching the skip and anyone found dumping stuff will have to deal with the police.
It didn't happen again. There is more to life than increasing its speed.0 -
Thanks all - the annoying thing is that there was only a gap of 30-60 mins between the builders leaving today and us arriving back home, so I reckon either the "dumper" was lucky with their timing or has been watching!0

Hang a CCTV sign at the front of the skip.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0

It could be your builders. I hired a skip for the bathroom fitters. There was not much waste from my bathroom, but there were also many large bags full of concrete blocks which must have come from elsewhere. I reckon the builder or his plumber dumped waste from other jobs. And I needed that skip for the old doors and other waste, and I was unable to use it.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
