Wish my surgery had the same. Prescription requests go through a non-secure server, news was last updated in 2011 (actually they don't have a news section just an old "click here" announcement) and as for booking appointments online... ha ha ha!

the emis system is run on behalf of the NHS under the name Patient Access and is available to all NHS GP Surgeries, so you just need to ask at reception or if you have a dedicated repeat prescription desk for access details

I got really excited there, as my surgery is recognised by the system, but deite registering, theres no online facility to book appointments :(
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

    As the poster above:
    Sorry ..

Unfortunately ABC Surgery does not offer Patient Access at the moment, as they are not a practice that uses an EMIS system.

I knew there was no way I could book online with my surgery, hence my ha ha ha in previous post!

it wil shows just above where it says repeat prescriptions, but you need the letter from your surgery with IDs on before you can fully register on the emis system

    Love it.

6.25pm on a Saturday and I have just booked myself an appointment for one of our doctors for Tuesday! And I got to choose the doctor I'll see (without having to choose a time first, then find out which GP it's with, like I do when I phone)!

While I was at it I re-ordered a prescription item so I will be able to pick that up when I go!

    :T

They must have cured everyone in your area. Unfortunatly it still seems everyone is ill in mine
  • We are having terrible problems with the doctors receptionists for my sons grandfather who is 90 years old.

They will not book him for a home visit even though he is now housebound. Every time we have to phone them it becomes an argument and a fight with them, its is a total nightmare.

WE are now moving him to our doctors who are lovely, the doctors he is with now are only open 3 1/2 days a week???? If we do manage to get a doctor to see him they are really lovely and very good, but the surgery is only as good as the receptionists.

Willing to name and shame is anyone is interested. The surgery is in Bolton.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

Is it really the case that all GP Surgeries are on this system? And that I can turn up to my GP surgery and ask for a letter of registration/access?

I have the suspicion that my surgery will either look at me blankly, or say "We don't use that". Mind you, this is the same surgery that told me that the Practice Manager's email address is 'private for her use' when it contained .nhs.uk ...

Thats brilliant - just signed my dad up for it (well on way to 90 and no computer and I do it all for him anyway) with his GP. My GP is on there but can't get at it right now - need a letter first. Have to go through that [STRIKE]harridan of a[/STRIKE] really very nice practice manager I suppose.

    Cheers

My surgery has had it a while. It was once was very interesting to hear "no, we have no appointments left this week" on the phone while looking at a screen that said otherwise. Yes, I did experiment :D

The only thing I wish it had is nurse appointments for booking blood tests, clinics etc, rather than just the GPs.
