It's a beautiful morning. :). Proper summer one....

It was really autumnal over here this morning. Chill in the air, condensation on the windscreen...

We have autumn this afternoon! Cannot see the big hill properly for misty drizzle.

I downloaded boss to read in hospital, but read them all before going in. Oops.

I have a red eared terrapin!
A goldfish has appeared, & also lumbered(!) with 2 cats.
Had a dog briefly (looked so much like Lassie it wasn't true - every walk had kids pointing in wonder). Dog was on it's last legs when she was foisted on us.

No to autumn! Going away next week for one thing, but also still waiting for the veg!

Steadily harvesting carrots, but still loads out there.
    Onions doing fine too.
Beetroot will need getting in soon.
No tomatoes are going red yet.
Need to harvest a few cucumbers.
Chillis appear to have flowers appearing.
    Please lets have another heatwave!

On the beetroot thing, I made beetroot last year with pickling vinegar. Found it to be very sharp.
Now I like sharp pickle, but it was a little too much even for me.
Are you supposed to add some sugar to it too?

FAO Lydia, I recall you posting a lot of techie stuff about the solar panels. At the time it whoosed over me. However I have a friend who is very interested now in getting solar panels. If you're able, can you post or PM me a brief summary please to pass on?

michaels, am I right in thinking you did/are in the process to? if so, be happy to hear your thoughts too if you don't mind?

Played golf today, & was on a hillside with some decent views. Could see a lot of showers happening around us.

Ah jelly, while you are around... yep, really enjoyed Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England. Very interesting, funny in parts, gross in others. I'm tinkering around in the same period genealogically so it's a good fit to other stuff I'm up to.

Also, did you see the Coursera link to a course that Dan Ariely ran? I've already pre-registered in case of a re-run. Coursera is free and it looked up your street.

How about roasting fresh beetroot? I did for the first time earlier this year (with olive oil and garlic). Obv it won't preserve a whole crop, but it was yummy :)
