For example, giraffes meet the criteria for being kosher, but they are not eaten.
If I were sitting where giraffe meat were available and somebody offered me a giraffe burger or a slice of roast giraffe I'd be up for it!

I'd not go out and actively seek giraffe to cook though. But if it's there and offered, why not!

    Hate mushrooms though!

So does that mean if you aren't desired the bedding doesn't get changed

Pretty much! Last changed in 1997!!!!:D
What I really meant was that I sometimes leave it on a bit longer to build up to the appropriate light or dark load
Washing machines are the top home appliance to catch fire unattended. The motor sticks in the final spin, then overheats, then smokes, then catches fire.

I hate doing washing when it's dark outside as it's so much harder to deal with a burning machine (getting it disconnected/safe/outside) in the dark - and harder to go bang on somebody else's door if you need help/reassurance after dark).

    OCD .... lots of rules.

2 biggest causes of fires are dryers, and those smelly plug things.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I don't like doing washing before bed because it is not as fresh in the morning so needs another rinse which is more wasteful.

I don't stay in with my washer ( or dryer ) though. :(

"Thou shalt not boil a calf in its mother's milk" is the Biblical bit. And it got extended, to the point of separate fridges, kitchens, ovens, plates and so forth, if you are really determined about it.

AIUI, a lot of the rules are two-tier like this - a verse or three from the Torah saying something basic, and then centuries of tradition of how to interpret it making it stricter. Like all the precise definitions of what exactly does or does not constitute work, for example.

    I agree with this.
    I have 2 baskets. Whites, & non-whites.
All whites go on a wash alone.
I wash all red stuff on their own.
I seperate dark colours & light colours & wash them seperately too.

I have two baskets on the landing into which random washing can be put. Once I get it downstairs, I have the luxury of a large utility room, where I can have lots of baskets for sorting different kinds of washing. Currently I have 4 baskets and 2 piles:
    1) Whites at 60 degrees
    2) Whites that can only be done at 40 degrees, plus pale things and yellow stuff
    3) Darks
    4) Reds, pinks, purples etc
    5) Darks that need to be done on a delicates/handwash setting
    6) Stuff that needs treating with stain remover that I haven't got round to dealing with - this is mainly down to DD and paint and/or ketchup

    Interesting.
I always put a load on immediately before bed. I think I was told once that electricity is cheaper after 10pm, & that's stuck with me...
Put it on the airer first thing in the morning.
White load every friday night, so shirts are dry for ironing sunday. Coloured load(s) as & when. Bedding will be changed as & when desired.

Electricity is only cheaper overnight if you're on an economy 7 tariff, which means it's ruinously more expensive during the day.

I try to wash during the day, especially if it's sunny, to take advantage of the free electricity from the solar panels. But I am frequently disorganised and resort to putting in a load of school uniform when I go to bed, leaving a note for DS (who's the earliest riser in our household) asking him to tumble dry a shirt each for himself and DD when he gets up (or whatever is needed that we haven't got anything clean of).

And I thought I was doing badly. Mine would have been last changed in 2005 on that system.

I don't have any smelly plug things, and I'm careful not to plug loads of high current stuff into multi plug things, and I have had a new consumer unit fitted since I moved in, with very up to date super-safe circuit breakers and earth leakage devices. It works a treat, too. We had some kind of an incident several months ago - I forget exactly what, but something like mowing through the lawnmower cable, so the sort of thing that ought to electrocute you. Half the house immediately switched itself off, and the person who should have been at risk didn't suffer at all.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Off-Peak Returns. Are these just walk-up tickets, so I don't need to book online?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I have plug points that won't take plugs anymore. Those smelly plug things have slightly melted the plastic of the plug points. :(

So I have smelly candles about the place now - far safer!

Usually walk up, the ones you need to book online are called "advance...."

Not responsible if I've got it wrong. Do check that a first class advance won't be cheaper than a second class off peak. and include the tube if you are travelling from home to a London terminus, it will be cheaper than buying a tube ticket separately.

I found out if I book in advance I can get a first for about 35. Would normally be four times that. Not first in advance is about 27. Trying to decide if its worth it for a first....works out as about a pound every ten minutes. Bit better than that really.

On some lines, first also gives you free hot drinks and snacks.
