    Lovely horsemeat meatballs...mmmm

There is a Swedish restaurant near us which sells meatballs. £12.50, and they tasted exactly the same as the Ikea ones as far as I could make out. Next time I'm going to drive to Croydon instead.
I had no idea there were such things as Swedish restaurants!

I'm not overly keen on the Ikea meatballs really - they're OK. When I first had them, in about 1991 or so, it was a real novelty! Some exotic food. Not actually had them since I don't think.

I got to wondering where the IKEA would be near you. Looked up and realised they're still actually a bit thin on the ground in general. Israel's lucky to have two - Ireland's only got one (and one in the north).

We were drivng past Bruissels once and were unchuffed iwith the services and pulled off the motorway when we saw an IKEA and used their cafe for our motorway meal.

Israel's IKEA has the same menu and complies with the kosher requirements by having two restaurants separated by a glass wall. So you can eat the swedish meat balls on one side and the milk shakes on the other side.

The first time I went to Ikea it was 100 miles.
When I moved from that area, the nearest was 170 miles.
Then I moved into Wales and it was 3-4 miles, so I went 3-4x but didn't own a home to need things for.
I am about 20 miles from one now.

If I had meatballs and a milkshake I'd be wanting to have a bit of each all the time. Having one then the other would be uncomfortable and not so enjoyable.

Bite a meatball; swig of milkshake; meatball; milkshake.....

Typical student house I guess. Washing baskets aren't left to fester at home.

I should apologise silver. When I mentioned exploding underpants houses I did of course mean his when he leaves home, not yours, which I imagine to be immaculate. Sorry.

The trouble I have is this. Just looking at Ikea cheap stuff and saw these:
    http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70234864/
£3 for 2. Nice, cheery serving bowls.

So I'd think "nice" .... but then I'd get there and pick them up and then think "when do you actually need serving bowls?" realise it's hardly ever and put them back.

Then, 2-3 years later, I'll be wanting a serving bowl that size and wishing I'd bought them.

On the other hand, if I bought them, I'd worry about where to put them/if I had room for them.

So indecision isn't just about houses, it's about everything.... even £3 cheery bowls!

I think outside Sweden there aren't many (or am I just being mean?). Most north European cuisines aren't. They're north of the imaginary line across Europe that separates the food-as-fuel countries from the food-as-a-way -of-life countries. Belgium's south of it, the Netherlands is north of it.

I don't think the Swedes who ran the place had thought it through as the menu was severely limited. Meatballs, some kind of ham and beef hash thing and reindeer was all they could muster. They had about 15 different desserts though, but they were all cake.
