We have tidied up in the garden and put a lot of stuff away. It needed doing anyway.
There are gusts here but nothing remarkable.0 -
You can make your own recycled splashbacks/whatever. You just need to know the size you want and have enough glass.... then google to find a local glassmaker who lets you rent their kiln. Take it all down there, pop it in the kiln, pay the kiln charge and bob's your uncle.0

Looks practical that one....
We used to have a corner cupboard that things would get lost in. It had a rotating shelf thing that turned out to be a PITA.PasturesNew wrote: »I hate them - historically they'd be dark/damp horrid corners..... my ideal kitchen wouldn't have corners like that.
My kitchen has all the cupboards in two straight lines, so no corner cupboards.
(It's like a galley kitchen but wider, so there's plenty of space in the middle. There's nowhere to put a table, of course, but it's just through the archway to the dining room, so that's not a problem. I quite like being able to leave the evidence of cooking activity out in the kitchen and not having to look at it while eating.)Doozergirl wrote: »Oh, the shame! :rotfl:
This is the polar opposite of my larder cupboard. Mine has rice and pasta spilling out everywhere and everything is shoved in. It's even grown into the cereal cupboard. I have an entire shelf for tea and coffee. It's full but we have no 'normal' tea at all for visitors.
I've been meaning to address it, but haven't gotten around to it. Perhaps this is my motivation.
But Doozer, that isn't a pic of NDG's actual kitchen, or anybody else's, for that matter. It's a pic from a kitchen supplier's website, so the food has only been put in there for the photo. Nobody really has cupboards that are simultaneously that full and that organised, do they?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

My garden is currently bare mud, so nothing to worry about there. We've dismantled the trampoline (which was on its side on the drive while the garden work was being done) so the only thing that might blow away is the climbing frame. It's like this:
but the slide is off it at the moment.
We're at the bottom of a hill, and the climbing frame is surrounded on three sides - house, fence and tall hedge - so I'm hoping for the best.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Local news reports say Cornwall might miss "the worst of it", storm's moved a tad south..... but it then goes on to say what to expect. But gusts at 70mph and not 90mph.0

Got to take DD back to North London tonight. Expecting meg- slow crawl through London traffic. North London's like a foreign land to me. :eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

oH said I should have stayed at home to keep an eye on the house. Hmm he is in America!
I'm banking on the trampoline jump pad being a net that wind will travel through! If it was covered dine more concerned it would tAke off!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I cannot decide...
If its going to be bad I should move horses, but it puts them in long grass which is not good for them at this time of year ....
I'd rather move them now than in the middle of the night.

Daily Mirror are curating online content of storm notes, including likely times and who has cancelled/put out warnings.

The trouble is we're awash with information, but information for everybody/everywhere - and the storm will hit people at different times in different ways, so if you're trying to get information for a specific time/place/route then it's nigh on impossible to do so.0 -
I moved the horses, I can sleep undisturbed now, hopefully. The horses also think moving fields is about the most exciting thing THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO THEM EVER. And are farting and kicking about like idiots.
On Saturday I was teaching and decided to spend some time with a clients horse I'm not paid to spend time with, but just ten minutes with him yielded incredible results. He now is totally in love with me and desperate to please me. I feel really sorry for him. His owner is I'll and I have offered to get him started for her a few times, gratis, because he's bored and causing trouble mainly.0
