Becasue the road goes up an down in places and was the road to school so regularly travelled a childhood friend of DD called it Tickle Tummy Lane.

There is a road we used to drive down as children that we called the 'Funny Tummy'. It was a bit of a short cut (avoided a busy crossroads), but mostly we took that route because it was the Funny Tummy.

Sorry to hear your news Spirit, how awful.

I'm going to see David Tennant in Richard 2 at the RSC tonight... :)

    You've just had a near miss! ;)

I'm back over there for my MOT tomorrow. Had been thinking of travelling tonight, but a very Nice late night on Tuesday was followed by an even later night last night (a couple of friends stayed over as one is on a flying visit back to the UK) meant that I couldn't face driving over there tonight.

If LJ had a spare ticket I would have had to say "hands off' he's mine".

    How is the house?

I wouldn't fight you. I'd rather be fought over (in my dreams) rather than be the one doing the fighting!

House is good thanks. Big. Long list of things to do. The most long term commitment I've ever made.

But I had 2 friends over last night and I could offer them a room. Each :)

FC - you mentioned a restaurant that you and Mr FC had been too. I think you might like here:

I went there as a treat to myself the first time I was in London after starting my job - it lived up to the hype. Also had a very nice whisky and red wine-based cocktail. Sounds like it shouldn't work but was delicious.

Nikkster what with that and Tayyab's you seem to know the best restaurants but must be very tolerant of queuing.

I presume there's no immediate plans for another London meetup but if so I throw the suggestion (again) of the India Club! :D

Hope you're enjoying the new house!

I can just see you inviting couples over, and forcing them to sleep in separate rooms - because they are there!

I went to Pitt Cue Co at about 2pm on a random Thursday in November last year. There was no queue to be seen :)

And I've only been to Tayaabs once in the evening, every other time was lunch (as I worked around the corner).

If there is something I want, I can be very patient though. Note also that both are pretty cheap as restaurants go ;)

I'm about 18 months out of date now, but I used to read Metro and the Evening Standard every day so even though eating out was usually only Uxbridge Wetherspoons once in a while, I was well aware of where I would go if I got a chance! Have never been to the India Club, but I'd definitely like to.

That and one of the benefits of having my own place is that I no longer have to hear my flatmate (or hopefully neighbours as I'm not directly joined to any) having sex

I like waves, but also like their absence.

I have never surfed. I used to free dive. ( also on the list of brain no no's )
Really? Did you use the giant fin?
Oh used to chat to a customer whose daughter was a free diving champion of some sort and sadly drowned during a deep dive as she couldn't make it back up. He can't recall her name but she is google-able.

Sounds like our sort of place but we have now become terribly suburban as we don't live near the sort of places we would want to eat out in.
Had a nice curry up Commercial road tonight as met up with son and we did some buying for our new online mini-venture to be launched soon.
Found 2 copies of my products in a large wholesaler (who we know) and we know we can do nothing about it as they are so rich we would just waste £1000's trying to get them to remove it from sale.....but they would still sell it under the counter.
The Bentleys parked nearby are theirs. *sigh*

Building fire shelters is a good business I reckon. Hole in the ground with a decent steel lid. They're crazy place to be as the metal 'door' gets red hot.

This is a really interesting piece of advice on staying to protect your property:

    www.dfes.wa.gov.au/safetyinformation/fire/bushfire/pages/preparebeforetheseason.aspx

For a start you need to have ready access to 20,000 litres of water (about 5,000 gallons) - that's a great excuse to have a swimming pool in the back yard! Then you need a generator and a pump that are protected from the fire and that can deliver 100l/minute of water.

The firemen tell you whether your house has been burned down or not before they reopen the area. Towns after the fires have been through are an amazing sight. You'll have a row of houses burned to the ground and the one untouched at the end: not even a scorch mark.

Puzzled as to how one stays up? Is it because they soak it with water? I would find it scary.
How do the fires start usually?
