  • DH likes the sheer knitted vests, predictably, but I like the little dresses and the acid bright 'sweaters'. And the big peach jumper. But I cannot work out WHY I like the peach jumper.....

Anyway , I just thought it was nice.

I like some of those, this is gorgeous:

but I agree with the majority, you need to be seriously slim and toned to wear most of those clothes.

I'm not keen on the peach jumper, partly, I think, because peach is just such a no-no for my colouring, it would look awful with my hair and skin. Blue, dark red and silver are good for me, though, so is teal.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
  • It certainly didn't get me any closer to finding what I wanted to find, which was seem winter knit wear for a non waif.

    Of my last years knitwear....

    I need jumpers!

M & S has a big sale at the moment, would somethign like this work for you? It's a bit "webby" like the ones you linked to.

I have (but no longer fit in) a peach dress from the seventies. It always looked really good on me, its very simple and even I could probably make a pattern for a bigger one. I just never get round to it.....l.

I think the thing is that I never wore just the peach alone (though I think peach is a good colour for me, if not very a la mode) but layered up over things like a boho bag woman. :o

In fact, I'm probably too old to be dressing like that now too.

I'm feeling a lot better from the cold this evening and nothing's feeling too dreadful so I've been doing all the stretches I can do that don't break the rules. Its hard to stretch much without getting your head low.

I did try a press up, but the result was very, very laughable. :rotfl:

I'm going to see later how many sit-ups I can do. I was trying to show DH a point of form on his sit ups yesterday and it felt quite heavy going :(

Thanks, I had no idea there were sales anywhere. I'll have a look on m and s. I never think to look there beyond tights and bras.

Oh no  They remind me of the horrible knitted swimsuits that we kids of the 50s used to be put in.
Not so bad out of the water but after we'd been in we all looked like we were overdue for a loo visit as, when wet, they stretched. Add gravity & they went well beyond the bounds of decency. Crutch was always below the knees :o

Then there was the fashion for knitted or crocheted dresses & trouser suits. Slightly more glamorous but still reminiscent of walking tea cosies or those dolls used as loo roll covers.

How is merino to take care of? Is it as easy as cashmere? Merino cashmere blends? I've seen a hoodie that would do for yard stuff on a site called woollover . Not suoer stylish, but looks ok...

I have a knitted three piece from the sixties I think, (all my vintage wardrobe is getting trotted out now). Its fabulous. I think I lost the little knitted jackety thing actually but I wore the top alone, or the skirt with other tops......loved that.

It apparently requires a 16 page training manual
