I have three 'panels' on the side of the bath. I'm kind of loving the idea of a bit of decoupage.
This sort of idea....

Would the National Gallery not notice if you cut off a bit of their painting? Besides that, wouldn't the water damage the paint? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Of course. After the bath
We're trying to prioritise works. Four projects call.
1. For some reason I want to do the coach house. It would value (which not much we have done yet actually does) and would give much longed for privacy but we have no clear vision for it really.....green oak (or other wood) timber frame structure....sensibly its not really next job (apart from could provide sleeping accommodation for builders on bigger phase)
2. Phase two house shell. If we do this its a long haul saving phase. Not sure how much would cost. I'm guesstimating the same as the kitchen, That's a few years saving, I'm going to want to do something between now and then....we should probably get a slab down ASAP anyway(so work has started) . Wonder how much just the slab would cost......
3. Stables. Sort of have to do this at some point sooner rather than later. Has some value for the house....increases income a bit, but not as much as it costs in out goings!
4. Dairy conversion. No idea of cost. Would mean another planning submission. Would improve living situation a bit giving resident parent own cottage. Planners probably won't go for this until stables are done......
Hmm, does that mean stables are first....? Maybe.
Is the slab needed to lock in existing planning permission?
Personally, and with the highest regard for builders, I prefer not having people working in my home. Unless there's a truly urgent need to do something, I recommend that you take a year off. You deserve it.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I was going to ask them REALLY nicely, then cover it will layers and layers of varnish.
If it looks tatty in a few years.....I can do it again.. Or paint it or whatever.
Not necessarily that painting, just that sort of ' idea'. I am buying one of those prints on canvas from NG soon I hope too.
The idea of having an actually finished room is slightly blowing my mind a little.0 -

Slab won't take long at all though, and not inside the house in the same way. Cost more the issue!
We have an extension in the terms of PP but I'd like to get the 'work started' (technically it has i think as was the same permission as the work we did last year, but doesn't hurt to make sure.
Year off? Doing what? Waiting for DH to come home at weekends? Waiting for hospital appointments?:p.
I think you are right though, next year the 'house' should be 'ours', we can potter about a bit, do the garden bits that have been so delayed. Save some money! Do some DIY.

If I went outside I'd have a phone, without Internet, I'd be wearing a pyjama top and some floppy leggings with my entire 4rse hanging out .... and I've not brushed my hair. I'd be having to find the lettings agent's phone number to phone them for a spare key ..... and not looking forward to them seeing me dressed like a tramp.
I always have my keys in my hand....... there is no Plan B.0 -

He is. He also has a key. They are both in London.
I finally got my new front door two weeks ago, or I'd have been in within a minute. There's even a crowbar in the garden!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I though the chocolate orange was my keys
I look quite similar to your description of yourself. SILs housekeeper said I look tired. That was diplomatic!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

There's a system that sorts out issues such as finding yourself outside without a key. The way it works is that you load up your trousers with useful things - money, keys, hankie, credit cards - at the start of the week. Then you wear the same trousers every day until they are grubby. At that point you transfer the whole kit over to some clean trousers, etc. It's a really neat, virtually fail-safe system. It's one of the few things that men do better than women IMHO. Of course, it's a triumph of function over form, so it'll never catch on.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
