Leftovers are brilliant. I spent far too long living as a student. Cooked a meal every night.
A mate who had his own place used to make a giant load of chili or stew at one go and put it into pint glasses into his freezer then thawed it when needed.
When I saw that I felt like Homer Simpson in the episode when he saw people in an iron lung and cursed himself for using his own lungs all his life, like an idiot! :rotfl:
I din't know how good leftovers could taste until I tried some Indian food reheated. Often tasted even better than first time.
And the startling thing is how much better they taste earlier in the day. Don't know why that is but it's true.:D
I used to just make a big chicken stew/curry/thing on Sunday and then stick the pot in the fridge and eat it for dinner all week. It always tasted best on Friday after it had been fermenting for five days! Those were the days, when my food bill wasn't astronomical. Unfortunately OH doesn't like to eat the same thing for dinner for 1,000 days in a row.0 -

You don't collect blackcurrants (so much faf!) to waste them on birds who are quite capable of helping themselves (-:lemonjelly wrote: »I bought a sprayway waterproof coat from TK Maxx & it is one of the best purchases I ever made.
First time ever I've had a coat that genuinely keeps me dry. Bargain at £50.
I've inherited OH's old sprayway coat - he does mad things such as hiking and camping on Scottish mountains in the winter, so he bought a brand new one, and I've got the old one, which is fantastic.Doozergirl wrote: »FMB is the Federation of Master Builders. Sorry for the three letter acronym!
Should be, "sorry for the TLA" surely?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Thanks! It failed as a tease, too, I'm afraid. I was enjoying looking at it and wishing I could be bothered to make something so yummy-looking, and didn't even realise it was referring to my previous comments until I saw my name!PasturesNew wrote: »They're a cult..... luring you in with food.
Any normal people .... would have boxed it up for the next couple of days.
RUN!!!
:rotfl:If I remember correctly (I give myself a 50/50 chance) - didn't Lydia move next to some of her friends? I'm pretty sure she looked into buying next to friends, but can't quite remember whether that became her house or not...
Well remembered. I almost bought the house next door to one friend, but ended up buying a mile or so away from her. However, another friend then bought the house next door to me. So these people with the leftover pizza are people I've been best friends with for the last 8 years, and who've done a lot to help me through all the stuff that's happened.
My kids and theirs are in and out of each other's houses all the time, we keep an eye on each other's kids if one household's adult(s) is/are out, and we walk their dog for them if they're out for too many hours at a stretch. They don't usually offer us leftovers of normal cooking, but this isn't the first time they've invited us to come and share their takeaway when they realise they've bought more than their own kids are going to eat. They know we'll be pleased rather than offended.neverdespairgirl wrote: »Should be, "sorry for the TLA" surely?
Just what I was thinking!
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Is that, "great minds think alike", or, "fools seldom differ".......?
I have a weird queasy feeling that I'm putting down to Zag and Chewy's descriptions of eating the same food for several days at a time, including "fermentation"....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

It's often a fine line, best judged on the basis of which is most preferable IMO

Either that or too much cheesecake...0 -
Double check the sofa size (diagonals etc) and the doorways and watch for awkward turns.... some people have been known to buy sofas that won't fit into a house.Ugh - I wish I knew whether I had a house, then whether I had a sofa. I've seen a sofa I really like
I don't know why I even looked. Was always going to be a bad idea.0 -

That was what I typed originally, then I wondered if someone would ask what that meant. That would have been a backfire, having assumed incorrectly on the first one.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Its main component is the same as of the box it's packed in. Nothing wrong with that. Helps you get milk down your neck in the AM hours!
I'm not sure I've ever eaten wheatabix - we didn't really do breakfast cereals at home when I was a child.
Isaac eats either bran flakes or rice crispies, both without milk. Which seems pretty revolting to me, but it's his breakfast, I suppose <shrug>
He eats lots of things most 8 year olds wouldn't - olives, gherkins, curry, anchovies, mushrooms, sushi, seaweed; I reckon we're all allowed the odd dietry foible....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
