Am I the only person in the world who thinks that dr who is a rather naff children's tv show which should have been axed about 30 years ago?

I went from the "too scared to watch unless peeping from behind the sofa" to "why does anyone bother" in a very short move.

Difficult to quote from previous thread, thanks NDG for this one.

In answer to I think viva's question, we went by plane from Boulder airport to the south rim and from there took the helicopter into the canyon, then a coach to the edge a short walk on the edge, back on a coach to the airport at the south rim and a flight back to boulder airport and courtesy minibus back to the Venetian. If anything it proves the value of review sites by the likes of tripadvisor. without it we woud have driven to the west rim and walked on the skywalk, but reviews showed this to be a back breaking ride on un made roads and the skywalk is over rated and no photos allowed.

We haven't been in a gondola ride, though we have eaten near them. Constantly amazed by that mall; they even spray it with some scent to give you the true Venice experience!

    I don't think I've ever watched it!

We've done everything we need in Romania and Bulgaria, and hit the Georgian border 2 hours ago, after a 21h drive! We've only just got into Batumi for petrol, as we had a huge argument with Customs over whether I was going to be paying import duty on my car (travelling on a Georgian passport presents questions as to whether I'll be staying longer than few weeks)

Destination Rustavi after I've finished with family down here, to spend some time with family over there! The plan for this week is quick meeting with studio in Tbilisi, chill a little, then up into Russia (through Abkhazia, as word says the border is open). At the end of this week, it's Destination Sochi, and OH wanted to do Krasnodar and Rostov without the girls (they're at Artek), before we collect them on the 20th.

I know questions are going to be raised regarding why I'm taking a UK-plated car into the disputed reasons, and probably even more questions again when we take the said car out the Russian side! In with Georgian passport, out with Russian passport is the easiest way to do it!

One thing I still don't get is driving situation in Georgia. If something pulls out to overtake, everything on both sides pull over to let it past! I've nearly been caught out by this last year, so hopefully I'll keep my eye on the ball this time. I'm doing the driving now (OH did most of Turkey, as we swapped in Istanbul), as she's too scared to do it!

68916mi now (was at 64000-ish before we left), and for this trip, nothing's gone wrong with the car, so hopefully it'll stay this way.
We'll be back in the UK on about the 24th, as we're having a quick stop in Kiev, then again in Budapest (for cigarettes, and so we can do the last stretch back in one go)

I hated Dr Who as a child as I though it was not very good. The latest version though, for the most part (there have been a few dud episodes) has been very well written and makes it watchable for all ages.

You lot have been busy over the weekend, shiny new thread:)

First Dr Who - John Pertwee
    Favourite - Christopher Ecclestone

I don't actually watch it, but if Christopher Ecclestone appears in something I'm likely to try and catch it.

People are either weirded out by this video of this Kloot song or, like me, never fail to feel uplifted by it. If you feel like idling some time away. I can't not smile at the end.

@CK is that a bet/dare, punishment or is that trip for fun?;)

    You are not alone.

But then I don't get Harry Potter either. I can't do fantasy worlds.

Volume 1 of the Harry Potter series is simply delightful, full of whimsy and fun. After that, it goes downhill as the books become more and more bloated. Even though we had to buy them for the kids anyway, I stopped reading after the first couple. I expect that Woldemort got his come-uppance in the last one.

Dare I ask why they'd have to be well over 6' to qualify for the job?

A very tall (female) friend of mine refers to that as 'waste of a tall man', on the basis that PN could manage perfectly well with someone shorter.

Might be worth having it on the background?

Word endings - can one of the very erudite NP kindly explain why shrivel becomes shrivelled but rivet becomes riveted? (Two ls, but only one t.) English must be a nightmare to learn as a foreign language!
