Sky free wireless connector scam

I'll try to be succinct:
Sky+ customer of about 10 years.
Have Entertainment extra package and had been paying £21.50 and a couple years ago rose to £24.00. We ere interested in Internet (Sky on Demand as well as others) TV and thought about Now TV for £10.00 one off (if I understand correctly) but decided to stay with Sky as we like Sky Atlantic.

I called to purchase the wireless connector at £21.50 but was trying to determine if our box was compatible. I was told that we needed a new Sky+HD box (but not an HD subscription) and that instead of paying £21.50 for the wirelss connector, buy the Movies package for 1 month only and get a free wireless connector.

Long story short, I receive a letter saying that our contract is now £27.00 per month. A call to Sky said that as a result of DOWNGRADING from the Movies package, the freeze that we had on our rates was taken off and that we now had to pay £27.00 a month. I complained that this was not mentioned to me at the time of establishing a new contract. I was offered 10% off, to pay £24.30 per month. I insisted that I wanted £24.00, but they would not budge any more. We live in an area where we do not have digital TV competition and we like the Sky offerings, so I am not willing to play the "cancel the whole service" game, but I told them that for the cost of 30p a month, they had created massive bad will with a long term customer and that when something suitable comes up, I will most certainly leave.

So be warned....before you accept what looks like a good deal..is designed to break any existing "agreement" and put in place whatever "new" rates they have.
