O/S Daily Saturday 3rd August 2013

O/S Daily Saturday 3rd August 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Bright and sunny here this morning.

DH and DS1 up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was ham and cheese kievs, new potatoes and beans for the menfolk, and I had mushroom omlette and salad, ice creams for dessert. Tonight will be stir fry, noodles, HM egg fried veg rice, prawns in sauce, and chicken in sauce, with accompaniments and prawn crackers.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, went in to town, bank and did food shopping, then home to do some more ironing, then started sorting the caravan stuff we had stored in DS2's bedroom - some will go back to the caravan today/tomoro - why on earth DS2 has 3 waterproof coats in there I don't know! He's had a fitting on session and knows which one he's going to keep and the other 2 will be going up for sale as both have barely been worn. There's still quite a bit of stuff here that does belong in the caravan - so we'll be getting all that put back so - my house will look so much better. Friends came over last night just after we'd finished dinner to collect some caravan equipment we had going spare, also they are helping DH later on today with a little job for our caravan - great to have good friends where we do favours for each other, nice to catch up with them and they are going to the rally that we are coming back to for the last part of our hols.

It's quite hot here again already - so will take it steady doing a few more jobs - will just potter along. Will be trying to get some baking done at some point.

Take care if you're out in the sun and remember the sun cream x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Another hot stuffy day here, have got a load of towels in the wm, so will get them on the line. Need to have a quick dash round this morning and a quick tidy.

I am waiting for dd to text to say she wants collecting from the station, she was out clubbing last night with some friends, so may be in a bit of a state today.

We are off to look at / price up some wood flooring for the bedroom today, hopefully we can get a good price for some oak, I only want to put it down once, and for it to out last me, so may as well try and get a good one.

Pizza and salad for dinner tonight nice and easy, dd or OH can cook it.

Sistercas Happy Anniversary to you both xx

Jools, I am so sorry to hear about your friend, big hugs love xx

    Morning all :)

Magnificent storm last night with thunder and sheet lightning so it was lovely and fresh to go to bed, no need for the fan at all.

The rain also stopped any further sand thefts, although the builders had put markers into the sand bag so they could keep a check on the levels. I wanted to booby trap it, but DH stopped me :o. The thefts cost us an extra £30 in materials so far.

I'll carry on with sorting the middle bedroom today as I want to turn the bed round and put up the new headboard. At the moment there's no room to move in there because I've used it as bed-robe (at least it wasn't a floor-robe).

I've also got going again on the strip quilt for DD, the patchwork part is done so I'll be edging the top this weekend. Lots of ironing to do as I'm re-purposing a valance frill and have to iron out the former seams I unpicked last night. The only cost for the quilt will be thread and £9 for the Primark fleeces I'm using as wadding.

    Have a lovely anniversary Sistercas!

    Morning all,

Jools how sad, lots of positive vibes for your friend.

So much sad news at the moment:(

My dh is taking me into town this morning to try and get some comfortable shoes that don't cost the earth. I'm struggling to walk around in the many cheap pairs I have. So will try Clarke's as there is a sale on and Sketchers Re usually good as well.

My son is struggling at the mo so trying to spend lots of time with him.
Quiet weekend otherwise, I have the kids and partners for dinner on Sunday. Going to do a big lasagne, salad and garlic bread and something quick and easy for pud, maybe cookies, have a good day all x

    Morning all,

Happy anniversary Mr & Mrs Sistercas. I hope you have a lovely day both of you.

We had a storm last night. It wasn't particulary a bad one but the sky was orange for a time. I'd just come out of Te$c0 and the flashes lit up the sky.

Grocery shopping is planned for today but not much else. I'm not complaining as I hate being rushed. Not sure what i'm doing for tea either..... I'm not sure of anything at the moment (that's probably because I am still half asleep).

Hester hope your recovering nicely. Thinking of you.

Anyway, have a good day all and dodge the showers if you have any.

    ps Anyone seen Hilstep?

    Hi everyone.

    Happy anniversary to Sistercas.

Fairly rotten day at work yesterday, but I can forget about it now until next Thursday morning.

We had some rain and thunder and lightening last night, so there's a very nice fresh feeling today.

DH is busy in the garden, and I'm just about to do some ironing.

Will be having chilli con carne for lunch. I've realised I have that meal quite often, but it is my favourite.

I've got some eBay things to relist this weekend. I'm not putting any new things on, as I'm beginning to 'run down' the eBay operation ahead of our holiday, which is 5 weeks today!

    Have a good day
