For claims for PIP, or ESA,
http://disabilityrightsuk.org/news/2013/july/atos-pip-centers-one-seventh-those-expected
What are these health centers for?
I take it, they are for claimants who go there to speak to medical staff about their claim.
But do all new PIP claimants have to go there? or will they have to?
(even if DWP change to a new company replacing Atos )
what are these centers? who are they for? Pip claimants, esa claimants ?
are the compulsory for all claimants? or some categories will be except (and can just fill in claim forms )

To have a face to face assessment to see who is swinging the lead!

Err no. they go there to be assessed to see if ATOS or similar consider them suitable for PIP.

Yep, that's the intention. If they don't the government will stand accused of not checking people properly.

For PIP & ESA. Both assessments will be run on similar lines.

Yes they are - no assessment - no benefit!
If you have an idea how ESA is working, just substitute PIP for ESA.
Many that I know that have a DLA award at the higher rates, are genuine and have a long history of disability are telling me that they aren't going to bother even claiming PIP. The cards are stacked against them even before they fill out the claim form. They are rearranging there financial affairs so that they will get by after 2015 without PIP/DLA.0 -

.
Can you clarify that, elaborate please
will everyone applying for PIP (from DLA, or new claimant) have to attend these cetnres/ it is mandatory ? / compulsary ?
or some cases can fill in the forms, and get the awards ?0 -

Not everyone will have to turn up for an assessment.
Most will.
It is not compulsory - but if you don't turn up - in most cases you are not likely to get PIP.
Unless you have good reason why you diddn't turn up.0 -

Will they?? Then you must be talking to the ones that think that green pigs fly at night! I'm talking to people who are deemed seriously disabled, both within the Mental Health system and those that are wheelchair bound.
They simply don't want to have to go through what happened to those that claimed ESA when it came out. They don't want anymore stress in their lives. They ALL have middle or high rate care/mobility either for life or indefinitely.
PIP is a continuous assessment benefit - do you honestly think that those in the categories I have stated want to have to go through a system that tests them every few years, with some having to go to a Tribunal to plead their case only to find that when they win, their time is up and have to be reassessed all over again?
They are simply not interested.
Mind you will always get those that will claim for everything on the off chance that they might just get something.
You and the government will have a shock come 2015 when the anticipated numbers that will thrown off PIP/DLA added to those that just wont bother to claim will exceed what the government expect by a wide margin.
I get HRM & HRC of DLA and I won't be claiming PIP!
I don't fancy having to go through the sausage machine every other year or so. Hence why I am one of those that are looking at ways to help avoid the loss of the money that DLA currently brings in. I have just handed back my Motability car and bought my own for instance.
Good luck to those that have more hope than sense.0 -

Like I said. Look at how ESA is currently working.
Yes they are compulsory like ESA. They will be regular like ESA, the system of gaining points is like ESA.
ESA & PIP are very similar in set up and in operation.
Everyone will be assessed and most if not all will have to have an ATOS style assessment every year or two.0 -

And in other news on Planet Andy.... Where do you get this impression that the disabled won't apply for PiP (other than yourself)? The seriously disabled have no option but to do so! Are you suggesting that those currently on DLA have enough spare capital to avoid the PiP tests and not apply for them?
Given your responses it would appear that you have clearly been overpaid because I certainly couldn't afford to purchase my own car nor stop relying on DLA (and later PiP) and will have no choice but to apply for it, whether successful or not!
Reported your death-mongering again anyway.0 -

Who will be exempt from assessments ?
or does it depend on the answers the claimants give in the questionaires ?
ie, them who have daily care + mobility needs ?0 -

Also, there will be different length of awards. 2-3 years, 5-10 years. People with a severe disability will probably get 5-10 years length of award.0
