Need some advice - Virgin Media

I was due to be moving into a shared house with 3 others, but due to various circumstances, we're all going our separate ways. Virgin was due to come and install but I cancelled, and was told I would receive my deposit back.
One of the people I was due to be moving in with called Virgin Media, falsely claiming to be me, and switched the account into her name, meaning my deposit goes forward towards her bills. She has also opened my mail from Virgin (which was still going to the house) and and is with-holding the cheque I was sent to refund my deposit.
What should I do? Explain to Virgin and request they cancel the cheque and send me a new one to my current address..?
Moral of the story: don't be a mug like me and have all shared housing bills in your name. I have learned my lesson.

She is not 'withholding' the cheque, she has stolen it. Report the theft to the police.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
