Unsure of a Direct Debit 'Paypal Payment' £11.98 per quarter???

I have been going through my direct debit payments and have annoyingly found several magazine subscriptions that have been charged per quarter as I forgot to cancel after getting the £1 per mag for 3 mths. I also found this:
paypal payment £11.98 per quarter, the last charge being in February.
I have two ebay accounts, would it have anything to do with either of them? I havent set anything up. Ive checked under paypal and cant find any reference to it - am I missing something?
any advice appreciated thank you so much!

I'm struggling to think of any regular charges that are levied by paypal..i certainly don't pay anything.
My only other thought is a different company that uses paypal to collect its direct debits...might it be that?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I used to have a direct debit set up by PayPal after I had verified my account. When I used to buy things it would take the money out by direct debit a couple of weeks later. I can't remember what it was set up like it might have been fortnightly and then whatever I had brought in the past 2 weeks they would charge as a Direct Debit. It could be something similar that's happened to you
I don't do it this way now because I removed my bank account from PayPal and use my card instead as it comes out straight away.0 -
Helix it shouldn't work like that...using paypal funded via a bank account works roughly the same as using a debit card in a shop. The sale was show up in your bank account within a day or two of having made it, paypal don't accumulate sales and send them in batches.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm sure that's how is was working but this is about 3 years ago now so they may have changed it. There was a direct debit set up in my account and If I looked on my online banking it would tell me how much the last payment was.
I know my parents have used instant bank transfer to pay recently and it worked as you stated so they probably have changed it because they didn't have to set up a direct debit to verify the account.0 -
Have you set up a subscription via paypal? Basically paypal will automatically charge you every so often, depending on how frequently the subscription is set to.
I have a few paypal subscriptions and also run a membership site which uses paypal subscriptions to charge my users.
It does state when you sign up for a paypal subscription that you are doing that.
To check if you have any log into your paypal account, click history, then it says
"Search
Show: "
Find subscriptions and press search, you might want to get it to search for a year so change the start date to 1 year ago.
Click on details button. At the bottom if you have any it will have a button saying "cancel subscription" If you press that then it's cancelled and you won't be charged anymore.0 -
THanks folks for replying, have just come online. I went straight to history when I saw the payment and checked subscriptions but there is nothing there. I'm tempted just to cancel it as besides the magazines don't have any other subscriptions linked to my bank account.
Will update if I find anything new - I suspect it may be something to do with my other ebay account but I cant see what at the moment.
You are such a great bunch, thank you so much for your advice!0 -

!
I'm still with UKTim on this, there is virtually nothing on ebay or paypal that require a set subscription...so it must be a third party collecting via paypal.
EDIT: The only thing I can think of is one of the pro merchant subscriptions like selling manager? If it is that then it would need to be traced as just cancelling it will incur a 'debt' to ebay which they will chase.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
