want to know what i should be doing at this point.

letters i have received so far:

'Parking Charge Notice' from Smart Parking - £40
'Outstanding Notice' from Smart Parking - £70
'Demand for Payment' from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd - £120
'Notice of intended court action' from Debt Recovery Plus - £120
'Reduced payment offer to avoid court' from Debt Recovery Plus - £96

i have done nothing with these letters so far except file them away.

You're too far down the ignore route to be doing anything other than to continue doing so (but see my final paragraph below).

Only thing not to ignore is if you get a letter headed Letter Before County Court Claim or Letter Before Action (or similar) as this is the formal start of the legal process. That said, Smart haven't done court this year so you might not get one of these letters at all. If you do get such a letter come back.

Have you been back to Asda to complain? It is their agent, acting on their behalf, who is harassing a customer of theirs. Complain bitterly to the manager - he can get this cancelled. See Coupon-mad's sticky at the top of the forum index about complaints that have worked for many, many posters here.
