Porting Number?

I have read on here that you can't port your number to the same network. eg Virgin to virgin.

I was talking to a CS man the other night from Virgin and also about a CPW cash back deal. He said that I could take my number to another sim of the same network.

As long as I made sure that the CPW had my number on the form that I wanted to take across. He said don't be fobbed off as it can be done.

I just wonder if anyone has done this?

Thanks.

I managed to port out of T Mobile contract then port back into a new T Mobile contract (bought via dialaphone). Vodafone sent me free PAYG sims to port my numbers onto then I ported them back the day after they went on the sim cards.

I know it is possible to port from contract to PAYG within the sme network and vica versa. However T mobile would NOT port from one contract sim straight onto another. They knew fine well what I was doing, and even admitted it. They assured me that there would be no problem porting out then back in.

Vodafone also said it would be no problem then tried to tell me that I had to stay on the PAYG som for 30 days when I tried to port back to T Mobile. I challenged this and was put through to a supervisor.

I explained that I had come over on he understanding that there were no time limits as I wanted to be flexable. The supervisor then told me that it was a technical issue, not policy that prevented them from doing this. However he tried and succeeded in provinding PAC codes. He added that there could be a problem and the worst case scenario is that I would be stuck on the Vodafone sim for 30 days.

These PAC codes were then passed back to T Mobile who processed them successfuly within the time specified. The vodafone sims are now defunct.
