Hi,
Our neighbours have this plant growing on their side of their side of the fence.
There is no evidence of it on our side.
It is growing very rapidly.

Thanks

I thought that(Japanese knot weed) firstly! Lets hope & pray it isn't ! Its a controlled weed in this country capable of invading concrete & tarmac ! Enlarging the picture I think knotweed has more sort of divisions in the stem like bamboo& stems look a bit reddish this stem looks more continuous with leaves coming off alternately. In fact it looks a bit like the Hazel I have in my garden to me ...only a guess though at this stage !0

Check out this page on the Environment Agency's site for more info on Japanese Knotweed

I don't think it is Japanese knotweed, as my neighbour has something like this growing her garden, it gets clusters of little white flowers on it, it hangs over the fence, I have just cut some of it back this morning. it hasn't invaded anywhere and I think after six years it would have, if it was knotweed. Shame she doesn't know the name of it, but says she bought from the garden centre.
get you local council environment person around to have a look at it. Or take a leaf down to the local gaden centre and ask them.0 -
Thanks.
It seems to be growing up to a foot every day or two!
A month ago it was not there.
I have not seen any flowers.
It is possible that it was there when we purchased in the winter, but had just been cut down.
I thought Knotweed, but it doesn't look quite right - not that I have seen knotweed in the flesh.0 -
What about Mile A Minute, Persicaria perfoliata. You really do not want that in your garden. My neighbour has it, and he cannot remove it. Whatever it is, it is a climber/creeper. It does not look like J. Knotweed or Himalayan Balsam, another nasty.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
