  • We like Dominos pizza occasionally as a treat. My husband likes pepperoni pizza, which is about £18, but you can order a cheese pizza with extra pepperoni topping instead for about £13, saving a fiver. Dominos is never money saving by any means but if you must have it, every little saving helps! Also look out for voucher codes on this site and O2 Priority, there's usually something.

That's a great idea. We do this with fish and chips: Order one portion of fish (which contains 2 pieces in our part of the world), and one single of chips, which works out much cheaper than buying two full meals and is more than enough for the two of us.

In our chip shop you have to order fish and chips and then a separate fish. There is a bit of a discount buying the fish and the chips together, and the other person can also have a small fish. But I know in other places it is the other way around.

I order a footlong sub at subway and share it. Much cheaper than two 6". You just have to agree on the flavour!

With some people this could be great and with some people - who I know would order things I didn't want - this could be awful. Worth considering though.

Be particularly careful when ordering pizzas.
For those not mathematically minded you would be amazed at the value differences.
In our local they do 10 inch or 12 inch with only a £1 difference. Ie £5 or £6
On the face of it 50p an inch as a constant.
Now the area of a circle is Pye x Radius Squared.
As Pye is constant you can ignore.
Therefore Radius Squared for 10 inch is 25, for 12 inch is 36.
That means a Pizza only 2 inch bigger is actually 44% bigger.
    Price increase only 20%.
    You get the drift.
  • I am not mathematically minded, but are you saying 12 inches (reminds me of something the girlfriend said the other day!) represents much better value than 10 inches?
Thank you for reading this message.

Me and my partner occasionally fancy Toby carvery but can be expensive eating in so we will often get 1 king size takeaway box to share as there's plenty of room in the box for veg and with king size you get plenty meat for 2.

Also ask for the yorkshires in a seperate bag to make more space in the box, this also means you don't have to fork out for a drink.

I have seen people order one half X and the other half Y in Subway before. They're franchised so not every one would allow it.
    Come on you Irons

Half a pint of beer or lager and half a pint of lemonade in a pub are usually cheaper than a pint of shandy. Some bar staff need to be persuaded to loan a pint glass though !!
Most places will give you a pint of tap water for free. Drink the water and you've got yourself a pint glass...
