O/S Daily Friday 2nd August 1013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Bright and sunny here this morning.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was gammon ham, eggs, chips and salad for the menfolk, I had gammon, egg and salad, ice creams for dessert. Not sure what we will be having tonight as boys going out with mum and dad so not definite how many I'll be cooking for! Have an opened carton of passata in the fridge that does need using up and so am thinking I'll probably make a pizza for tomorrow night's dinner and will do salad, the last of our HG new potatoes and some chicken pieces with it - none of this will take too long to prep or cook as we're going to be busy organising caravan and generally getting ready for hols.
Did manage to get some chores done, I did all the ironing and now have an empty wash basket. Didn't try to get loads done as it was soo hot here yesterday - my dining room is the coolest room in our house and at 10pm last night the temperature was still 27.5c - I'd had windows and doors open and a fan going all day - supposed to be a bit cooler today. DH was exhausted when he got in - this kind of heat just saps your energy - but we'd be complaining if it was raining no doubt!
Will be heading off to town, the bank, then food shopping shortly - will try to get all those things done before it gets too hot - will then potter along getting jobs done - want to make a start in DS2's bedroom sorting through the caravan stuff - which needs to go back into the caravan and which doesn't!
Take care if you're out in the sun and remember the sun cream x
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
Sometime during the night, someone smashed the back window on master tru's work van. A lot of his kit was in there but nothing was stolen. I can only think it was people (kids?) messing about and they ran off when they realised what they'd done  He's loaded everything into his own van and his boss is arranging for Autoglass to come and fix it.
I've been doing those annoying jobs that I keep putting off. Sewed the ripped pocket back into my bag – I hate it when my keys and phone get buried under everything elseFound a home for the bamboo sticks in the garden, that was supposed to be easy but I found myself just moving this to fit that there (x 10) before I had somewhere to put them
Lots of other little things fixed/sorted too.
It was hot and muggy here yesterday – really horrible. Blink and you break out in a sweat, lol. It's very cool this morning, grey clouds and rain. The sky over the forest is black and it looks like it's heading this way. Hopefully we'll get the shopping done before it reaches us. We skipped the shopping last friday, just topped up on bread and milk during the week. I went through the cupboards yesterday, armed with a pen and notebook. Apart from fruit, veg, bread and milk, I have just six things on the list. I don't know how the cupboards are still full, I'm sure we ate this week :rotfl:

Good morning nmlc and to all who cross/follow,
Sunshine here again. Washing is ouot and another load on.
Dd had a hospital appointment yesterday. We thought it was a follow up appointment after having her appendix out so that they could check her stomach, make sure she had healed properly. We were told that they found a growth in the appendix, a carcinoid tumour. It was half a cm long. The Dr said no further action is required as it has gone because the appendix were removed. If it had been reasonably bigger she would have had to half of her right bowel removed. I know it hasn't happened and everything is ok but i just felt sick for the rest of the day.
Need to get a pile of ironing done today. Baking tins are empty, so they need filling up again.
Cottage pie for tea tonight. Didn't have it in the end yesterday.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Good morning everyone
Looks like it's going to be another lovely day so have emptied the bathroom and everything is in the washing machine. Now I can get my favourite bleach spray out and give the bathroom a good clean and leave it smelling like the local swimming pool!
Want to go to a farm shop over the weekend and buy some meat so am checking and tidying the freezer today. It seems to be mostly ice cubes, vegetables and herbs and spices in there but I sometimes find a nice YS surprise, I had forgotten about.
No other real plans for today but there is always plenty of cleaning, tidying and decluttering to be done. Cooked brekkie for brunch and something with salad for dinner.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs them or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning everyone,
FS Hugs for you and for your DD.
Molly, LW, Julie, Hilstep Hugs.
Hester Glad that your visitor helped you feel a bit better.
Redruby Hugs for you and the family over the road.
The funeral was very sad, the mum was only 46, but the wake was lovely and I am so proud of my DD and her group of friends for the way that they have supported their friend.
Today both of my DDs are off on a weeks camp and I am going to help set up the tents. Hope it stops raining!
When I am back I am going to see a friend who is going through a terrible time, I won't go into specifics here as I don't know if she reads this, but I don't know how she is holding up in her situation.
Tea tonight is HM pizza.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

Morning everyone :j
Still uncomfortably warm this morning, I am sitting here with the ceiling fan on full blast and I still feel all sticky! Hopefully we will get some rain later on to freshen it up a bit.
I had a busy day yesterday as my girls wanted to go to the cinema to watch Despicable Me 2. I took my grand daughter as well as a treat but after numerous trips to the loo, and jumping out of her seat every three minutes to get sweets and a drink I began to wish I'd left her at home with her mum and brother!! Bless her, she's only 5 and this was her first visit to the cinema so I'm sure she will get used to it. The girls really enjoyed the film though so I'm glad we went.
Got up at 6 to put some pork shoulder in the slow cooker, hoping to have pulled pork for tea with rolls and sweetcorn. Had a cheeky takeaway yesterday and have most definitely used all my points for the week with Weightwatchers. It was worth it though
Been trying to sort out uniform for the girls and had major difficulty tracking down a pair of daps in an adult size 6 for my youngest DD. All my children have clown feet thanks to their size 12 dad lol. Eventually managed to gt some in Shoe Zone online with free delivery so that was brilliant. Thankfully this is her last year in primary school so she won't need them next year.:j Just about sorted them out now except for the dreaded school shoes and bits like bags and water bottles etc. I always get them Clarks shoes but the choice this year is awful. Both the older ones want 'dolly' style shoes but there aren't any they like in their size. I am hoping that there will be some in the adult section. Other than that, there is a small shoeshop which sells Startrite shoes but I've never bought them before so I don't know what they're like.
To change the tone completely, I was shocked to read about RedRuby's OH's traumatic experience. I am so sorry that he had to experience that. My prayers are with him and the family affected and I can only hope the poor man has found peace at last.
Well, got to go and rescue one of the evil kittens from strangling herself on the blind, they love to sit on the window sill and leave nose marks on the glassTake care and as always gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Hello all. Off to work now, only got today and Monday and then I'm off until the 16th! Got lots to sort out, need to make sure my team know who to see if they need anything while I'm off, and that I have put everything in place ready. The perils of being a manager - you can't take time off without planning for ages in advance!!
We need to go and do the big shop tonight. Haven't done one in about 3 months! We also need to go to Costco tomorrow to stock up on chicken breasts while they are in the current deals.
Having a nightmare with Npower, it's too long of a story to go into here, but we had a complaint going on for 6 months, thought it was settled and we are now with British Gas, only to find out that Npower haven't done what they promised and they are now trying to chase us for over £400 instead of the £98 we believe we owe!! Argh!!!!
Can't wait for the autumn and the cooler weather, I really dislike summer!!! Want to get my slow cooker out again!!
Have a good day all!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning all,
Moorhen glad the funeral went well..... 46 is much to young to die. I'm in touch with people I grew up with/was at school with and not many weeks go by without an announcement of one of us dying. We are talking people 53 or younger. Its so very sad. Its certainly a reminder of my own mortality. The women in my family seem to live to a grand old age but the men die young. I'd rather follow my Mum as i'm not ready to 'go' yet. Ive got a dream I want to fulfil.
Bits and pieces to do today. I need to give my GP surgery my list of BP readings. Ive been meaning to do it for weeks. The walk down to the surgery is fine but the hill walking back is a bit much these days. I need to pop into the Post Office too (unfortunately its in the opposite direction).
Wildlife has been at my bin bag again. At this rate i'll be buying a roll of 20 bin bags every week. Ive tried triple wrapping it and smothering the lot with pepper but to no avail. Bahhhh! We've also got red ants which have been squirted with ant killer (and the area covered over because of the 'Girls'.
I want to pop into Tesco some time over the weekend too.... Ive run out of clothes hangers for 'Youngest' as he's been buying clothes. I'm a bit fussy you see. Hubbys coat hangers are blue, mine are beige with loops on and 'Youngests' are beige but plain. I'm a bit anal about these things. I like things to match. I'm pretty sure I got 'Youngests' from Tesco.
Aint got a clue what i'm doing for tea tonight. Last nights salad didn't go down well.:(
