They tend to prefer to be working on the more cowboy builders etc, they kind of people who take thousands from people particularly the elderly then do nothing or !!!! everything up.
It would take multiple calls from people to go and visit a specific Supermarket issue.
You know one TS officer. You seem to think this means that you know the policies and procedures of every Trading Standards in every town across the country. Even when other people have experience that directly contradicts what you are claiming.0 -

I can imagine it's much the same and can see the logic!
I can also imagine the people who dispute what I've said know zero TS officers as believe you me there aren't many of them as the one I know tells me. Kind of like does give the impression they're not going to drop everything to drive to a Supermarket at the drop of a hat as soon as someone complains about an SEL!0 -

Please don't call me a liar.
Just because you allegedly know someone who is a TS inspector and that it the way they supposedly operate where this person works, doesn't mean it's the same in every single TS office the whole country over.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Don't exaggerate! That's not calling you a liar. Your post had nothing do do with SEL's anyway!peachyprice wrote: »Erm, yes they do.
Case in point, my Sainsbury's were selling ready meals from their deli counter without heating instructions (breach of TS)
By the way there's no breach of TS, there's no such law or act as TS!
They will not just jump because of an SEL!0 -

You said that TS wouldn't visit at supermaket on the strength of one phone call. They do.By the way there's no breach of TS, there's no such law or act as TS!
My mistake, it's a breach of food safety laws that TS are responsible for enforcing.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

http://www.ts.wyjs.org.uk/wyjs-trading-standards-news-c.asp?NewsOrder=8390Following a complaint from a member of the public, West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service visited the store in February 2012.0 -

Out of date food, again as I wrote, this is about ONE SEL!!!!!!0 -
Multiple people have pointed out that TS will visit a supermarket on the strength of one phone call, but you're still certain they won't because you think you know what your imaginary friend does at work.0

In my experience of a few trading standards offices in the east of England, they certainly do go out on the basis of one complaint, if they feel it's appropriate. Equally though there are cases where they will wait until multiple complaints are made, it would depend on the nature of the complaint.
I don't know about Tesco, but I would suspect that they would certainly consider a visit, especially if clear evidence was presented to them.0
