Top money saving tip: don't buy presents for adults.

Bit unfair if they don't have kids but you'd expect them to buy your kids a present. My brother started doing this when he had kids but I didn't. If you both have kids then it's a bit easier to implement.

I've got a loose change jar which currently contains about £60. By Christmas I hope there will be a few hundred in there, which will go towards presents and food.

    Why would you expect that?

I save £10 pw. Ive done this for years and don't miss it at all. Ive just started to look round for bargains. DH does the same so we will have just over £1,000. This covers 2 DD's and about 20 other pressies for both sides of the family. It also covers the big Christmas food shop, any other bits that need buying (new Tree was needed last year). We never spend anywhere near the amount that we've saved and what ever is left over (last year was about quite a few hundred) will be paid of as a deposit on the summer holiday.

I save all my nectar points to buy the booze and i've also been saving iceland stamps.

    No. I don't.

Haven't done any shopping yet, usually start after October half term, as I see things. I tend to buy most Xmas presents in December, although I will buy something at any time of year if it's "perfect" and good value.

I have done more of my shopping in Tesco though, to save more Clubcard points, hopefully for Xmas presents.

I pick things up through the year as I see them, I started in January ;). I don't get concerned about who's getting what and who i haven't got for yet, until October. Thats when I start getting sorted out in earnest for Christmas, in the hope that by the first week in December its all done and paid for.

I started to, but the school summer holidays seem to have obliterated it. I have an ad-hoc job and just coming to the end of a months run of f-time working. not quite at end of week 2 and have already acquired 3 water guns (we have 2 kids- don't ask) a gaming mouse, diamante headphones, paid for sports camp and drama summer school and still have a seaside break to pay for and uniform to buy -phew!

Thankfully I do have some 'bits' put away already (stocking filler presents) and my mums bought in Jan sale (is not something she'd buy for herself or that anyone else would get her!)

This year I've worked overtime to fund Christmas as I'll have been on maternity leave for 3 months by Christmas. Didn't want to have to worry about eating into our money so this was the best idea. I don't spend loads as only buy for the 11 members of my immediate family/their partners and children. I usually spend around £300-£350.

Usually I tend to start Christmas shopping in November so I'm uber organised this time!
