barclay card ppi

Hi
I have just recieved a letter from barclay card who state they will not be upholding my complaint because it was "submitted by post and at the point of 'applying' for ppi, as no advice was given the process required you to select the specific type of cover you required. In addition we conducted a review of the documentation and are satisfied the documentation you recieved was necesary to inform you of the terms and conditions of the policy.
i had at the time full sick pay, critical insurance cover and savings in the bank to cover and payments if i was made redundant. i would have recieved full redundancy pay as well. i did not ask for this cover at all and never needed it. none of the policy limitations etc wasnt expalined or the cost with or without the cover?
i will now be going to the financial omsbudsman, what are my chances?

Very slim. You bought it, it wasn't sold to you, so you chose to have it despite knowing you had all the other stuff in place.
They may autopay when given a chance to by the FOS, they may contest.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Well, the documentary evidence says you did. They are saying you applied via the post and requested it without anyone else involved.i will now be going to the financial omsbudsman, what are my chances?
Low. You are making an allegation of mis-sale but no-one actually sold it to you. Unless another failure it identified or the amount is small and they decide to use the FOS fee avoidance payout then you would not expect success.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). hi
It was put on when i applied for the credit card 11 years ago.I didnt just apply for the PPI. but i didnt tick the box on application form as i didnt need it.The application form for the credit card was a leaflet that came through the post. There wasnt any actual 'sale' of ppi insurance. i didnt opt for it as i had other ways of paying if i got redundant or i was off sick or indeed critical ill as mentioned in previous post.

So how was it sold to you then?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

If it wasnt sold to you and you didnt select it then how exactly did it end up on your account? - The card provider is saying you selected it on the application you sent in.
If you didnt want it 11 years ago, why did you continue to pay it each month?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. i recieved a letter from barclaycard stating that the company they used for PPI (axxa) was no longer working with barclay card. So the PPI on my account was to cease. This was the first i had known about ppi on my account. the original account was with morgan and stanley which was taken over by barclay card. i did not realise i was being charged for ppi. And when i found out i complained. i havent used the card for 4 years either. Originally i had the card and transfered a balance on to it. so wasnt looking at statements as i wasnt buying anything new on it. the ppi was put on without my knowledge0

Did you ever pay PPI? Just because it was on the account, doesnt mean you paid anything. e.g. if you paid the balance in full each month you would never have paid a penny.
However, we still dont know why you think it was mis-sold when they are saying they didnt sell it to you but you chose to have it on application.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). No there was a balance on it for a few years. i didnt select it on the application at all. I know i didnt tick the box for ppi. Isnt this why the banks are being bought into question about this? putting ppi on without peoples knowledge? i know for a fact i did not select it on the application.0

the ppi was put on without my knowledge
You will be hard pressed to prove this. The only way you could prove it was if you had a copy of the postal application with the box to choose it unticked.
If they have a box that is ticked, your complaint reason is voided.
It wouldn't have been put on without your knowledge, and it would have appeared on every statement with an outstanding balance.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
thanks for you info on this. i had never even heard of ppi 6-7 years ago so wouldnt have even looked at this. Thanks annyway for your opinion0
