Black horse finance success!

Hi all, around 10 weeks ago hubby and I found an old statement from a loan we'd had with blackhorse....hubby clearly remembered them selling ppi on the 'you won't get the loan withou it' basis.
So we put in a claim, ( the loan was paid off in 2005, so I Wasn't sure we'd be within timescales).
Anyway a very nice chap rang me on Friday (19th) asked a few questions about our situation at the time and then yesterday we got a letter...

They have refunded ppi not just from the loan we complained about, but from 3 others we'd had too which I thought was excellent service, and we have been offered just over £9 grand!!!
:j:j:j

I would say to anyone else, do it, give it a go, I'm not sure if blackhorse have been in the ombudsmans bad books for some reason but they didn't mess about and they didn't refuse our claim.

Happy!!!!!:D

I've got a running policy with Black Horse which started in 2011.

I'm looking through my policy but I'm not sure what to look for, I know big loan companies aren't just going to put - PPI Chanrges.

What do I look for in my forms to know if I've had PPI sold?

I would have thought Black Horse were not still selling it in 2011.

You would have a statement of demands and needs. You would have a transaction on the statement(s). It would also be on the credit agreement. It would state Payment Protection or something similar. It would stand out and be obvious as it is a debit transaction that increases the amount being borrowed.

  • Hi,
I also had a black horse loan in 2008 which was sold with PPI as i "would not get he loan without it". It was sold to me via a face to face meeting. I am trying to find out how to claim and what I should write on the claim form to ensure success. I wondered whether you would be kind enough to help since you have scored! Thanks in advance, Emma
  • There's no way of ensuring success. Have a look on this site at what constitutes a mis-sale, see if any of those reasons apply to you and then you answer the questions on the form honestly.

Hi, just print out the form from the financial ombudsman and be honest. Tell them on the form that you believe it was mis sold as you were told you wouldn't get the loan without it.
Go for it, the forms quite simple to fill in, and it's taken just 8 weeks which is the time limit allowed by the FO.

    good luck!

Being told you have to take ppi to ensure you get the loan IS a clear case of mis selling. That's what we used as our reason.

It may be but you can't prove it so it's as well to find other provable reasons.

Sorry I disagree - the onus is on them to prove they didn't push the ppi as a requirement of getting the loan.

That was the only reason we filled in the form, although we did get a call from a very nice chap at black horse asking a few details of our circumstances at the time, which included questions like 'would you have got sick pay if you'd been off work' and 'did you have any savings at the time'
All these questions would be relevant in the case of wether or not the ppi was needed, but it was still missold.

You can disagree as much as you like, but the onus is on you since you are the one asserting they did something wrong.

I can tell you you owe me £40 and by your reckoning, you'd have to pay me whether I can prove it or not.

No it is not. You are wrong.

If there is no evidence supporting your allegation then they can reject it. Your suggestion of what is the case would be anarchy. A policeman says you were going 60mph in a 40mph zone. Using your opinion, the driver has to prove he was doing under 40. Whereas in real life, the police have to prove you were doing over 40. UK law does not work the way you say it does.

The evidence has to support your allegation.

Which makes your complaint about the weakest type going. The questions asked about sick pay and savings are there to see if you actually needed it or not. They are much stronger complaint reasons. Not some verbal allegation that may have happened but equally you could be making up.
