Car purchase

Hi

Has anybody used https://www.acubed.co.uk to buy a car?

I'm looking to buy a three year old car for around £5000 and came across them on the exchange and mart website. Prices lower than local car dealers, no deposit, car delivered to your door, nothing to pay if you don't like it on inspection, 6 month warranty. What's the catch?

Thanks

Try haggling with local dealers - they're often keen to make a sale and can afford to haggle a bit. I personally have not heard of that website but others may have :o

Also look over the article if you haven't done so already:

The moble number and invitation to call on the mobile seems *very* fishy. Best avoided is my guess. Plus you don't know that the 0845 number doesn't just divert to the mobile, very easy to do nowadays.

An excellent point, best steer clear of these people and stick to someone you can meet face to face in the event of problems!

Don't be afraid to price a dealer off against a car supermarket, remember they want your business, if you're feeling lucky, try and get a couple of or even 3 years servicing included, that'll be worth a few bob

Plus they deliver the car to you. Seems nice, but where is the car actually coming from?

    Also in the small print
ACubed - 4 Bowes Rd, Rubery, Birmingham B45 9HL, Visitors by appointment only.
Would you turn away paying customers by asking them to make an appointment?!

hi, maybe I can cast a little light on this issue as being the owner of the company I am maybe better placed to answer questions than just speculate.

Acubed started 12 months ago as a very small company offering vehicles to specification. ie I want a black renault megane 53 plate and have 5k to spend, what can i get and do i have to buy it if i dont like it?

This all started from working in the trade buying for the trade only from auctions usually in bulk when i had the idea of suppling directly to the public(without the middle man so to speak). Initially vehicles where under 3 years old so would be covered by the manufactures warranty moving on to over 3 years old once i had once a decent warranty company who would repair vehicles local to the customer. I used a vehicle trailer, then moved up to a 7.5tonne transporter as things progressed. Yesin the early days it was just me and my truck and i make no excuses about it. I worked 14 hour days delivering vehicles all over the country and well below normal prices and always on the basis that if the customer didn't like the car they didn't have to have it. I would take a personnal cheque as payment putting myself as risk all so the customer could have peice of mind. in the first 12 months i delivered over 140 vehicles country wide and never had one rejected as i was very careful to buy the best vehicles.

The company has now moved on and merged with a much larger traditional car sales company who have a large site in the middle of birmingham and have vehicles on site for test drives etc. In total we employ 10 people not including valeters and delivery drivers.

The 0845 number is because we offer vehicles all over the country, not just the midlands.

Its a pity some dont like the website but I still only have one pair of hands.

any questions can be posted here or call us direct

    regards

How so ? please explain, if you prefer only dealing with large main dealers then thats fair enough, but without the smaller dealers nipping at their heels they would charge whatever they liked and you would have to pay it having no alternatives.

There is a place for the smaller dealer in the market.

Then I hope you have an operators' licence? :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Still got the advert i had to put in the paper somewhere.

dont have it now, use drivers and trade plates.

6 week inspections, maintenance costs, plating, tax - the extra cost of all these just to have a bit more capacity over a 3.5t transit is expensive if you dont use the thing every single day and night like a recovery company would.

but damn did i love that truck, i think its somewhere around the M25 area now.
