Peel Centre, Stockport, Penalty Charge Notice

Hi all,
Firstly I apologise if I haven't posted this thread in the correct forum.
Secondly, I'm totally new to all this and would like some advice as I've had conflicting advice.
Last week I received a penalty notice for £60 from The Peel Centre car park in Stockport. I hadn't realised it was pay and display.
After i had received the penalty notice, I returned to have a look and must admit that the signs are massive. All I can say is that for some inexplicable reason, I completely missed the signs so didn't buy a parking ticket. I don't have a better excuse than this If I'm honest.
What should I do now, a lot of friends have said ignore it, whilst others say I must pay it. Like I said, I'm completely new to all this so could really appreciate the help.
I understand it was my error in missing the signs by the way, I still don't understand how I did it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Simon

It's not a penalty charge, just a lousy invoice from Excel Parking, see we know who it is without even asking lol
How did you get this fake ticket, was it through the post within 14 days of parking? Or was it on your car, if the latter wait until the notice to keeper that must be with you by 56 days after parking. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Hi, thanks for the reply. It was Excel parking, you do indeed know what you're talking about lol :-)
I received my notice through the post about a week ago so I'm conscious I've not left myself a lot of time to respond as I've only got about a week before I get an increased charge of £100!
Is this something I can repel or am I b*ggered?!0 -
I would advise everyone to use the Tesco car park nearby where you can park for free for up to three hours. This was part of the agreement for planning permission when the store was built. To be fair and as the OP says, the signs are very clear having been beefed up after a challenge a year or so ago. They also have cameras on site. I personally resent paying to park there for the dubious privilege of shopping there and therefore i dont go there.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Thanks also for the reply, quite right Tesco is nearby. I visit this car park infrequently and last time I visited some years ago I'm sure it wasn't pay and display hence not realising it was now pay and display.
Anyway, I'll know better next time...
However I have this ticket now, what do I do about it?0 -
Use the "search" facility at the top of the forum and search for "Peel Centre" on this forum.
You can read up on the previous advice given to a number of people, but only read threads less than 6 months old and the newer the better.0 -
just a brief return,to correct you all,,the signs are in fact unclear,,in large letters the signs clearly say,,,WELCOME TO THE PEEL CENTRE,,,which to be fair anyone with very poor vision could read as the writing is that big,,,but a few lines down, crammed together in minute wording is,,,,this is a pay and display car park,,which for anyone with 20/20 vision would need a magnifying glass to read,,,that is how the scum known as excell manage to scam some unsuspecting motorists, full stop,,so dont be fooled into thinking that the signs are clear, when in fact they are not,,,bye again,.0

ok, marleyboy i cannot argue with that,,,though the pictures that i have on my phone from the peel centre are totally different, where your picture 100% clearly state,,this is a pay and display car park,,mine do not,,that is the area where it was crammed in small lettering,,it pains me to say that excel at last have done the right thing with their signage and made it very clear for all to see,,please accept my apologies for incorrect post,i have not been to the peel centre recently and will visit first thing in the morning to view myself i know the geezers who work for excell so may do a bit of digging to see when/why this was changed,i cannot abuse them though for the clarity of the picture you have posted.0

well, checked out the signs at the peel centre at first light today, wow,,they have ben changed, not only the ones at the entrance, which alot of motorists missed as they were driving in,but the ones inside the car park have been changed and made extremely clear, can only fault excel for one thing,as the car park used to be free after 6pm,some folk continue to think that is the case,,,in the past motorists just drove in and the signage was unclear,,the words,,pay &display were crammed in and hardly visible, but now, exactly the opposite,,whats going on? as this will stop the scum excel making a continued killing,,perhaps simon renshaw smith has found god,,,as for op,,could it be the case, when you originally parked, the old signs were still in use in the car park, then when you returned following pcn they had been changed???? also car park prices hiked up now 30%,,but as for future excuses of ,,i didnt see the signs,,arguably then, you should not be driving, they are 100% clear, still cant believe i am saying this,,keep up the good work against all fake fines.0

Have received a parking charge notice even though I purchased a ticket and displayed this on the dash. Their tickets are'nt adhesive. I was gobsmacked. No photographic evidence provided other than a photo showing the car entering and exiting within the paid for parking time. I'm furious. I am very careful to always check that the ticket is clearly displayed as I once had a parking ticket fall from the windscreen onto the floor of the car in a local authority car park and was issued with a penalty notice which was left on the car. No notice was left on the car so this is like a bolt out of the blue. Does anyone know what the current situation is regarding ignoring the notice?0
