Just ordered some BT cordless phones that have options to block international and withheld numbers.

I hope it works better than the BT service i paid for some time back. That was supposed to lock all withheld numbers.
    Except it just didnt...

    Totally rubbish. Cancelled it.

I just set my answerphone to answer in a couple of rings with the message, If your number has been withheld your call has been rejected.

Didnt take long for the calls to stop. Probably though !!!!!! when they got the same message when they didnt witheld the number.

A long pause after the message and they usually gave up waiting to leave a message. Family members were warned and wait for the tone then speak we can hear them.
Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

If callers withhold their number, that is their right, but it is also yours to refuse. My TrueCall explains that I don't accept such calls and they should release their number, or write. They all manage to release their number to get through - it is their problem, not mine!

Is "true call" able to recognise the number of "spoof" numbers being used by spam and scam callers these days?
  • They should make BT release the CLID for international calls, how hard can that be?

Then I can block the numbers myself.

It had no link, It was not to long and I have no idea why.
  • It is pathetic, O am blocking more calls than I answer these days and yes I am a signed up member of the Preference Seervice.

Just had "the Indians" on the phone again. Apparently they were calling from Microsoft Technical Support.

"Im lying here on my bed naked, and Im ready to start" I said.

"blah blah blah windows virus ISP blah blah"

"Im rubbing butter now all over my chest" I continued.

"blah blah control key blah blah Microsoft".

"Now rubbing butter over my trouser snake".

"blah blah www dot something dot com"

"If youre not going to talk dirty Im going to ask for a refund"

    "blah blah virus ISP Windows"

"Mister trouser snake is ready for you"

    And they hung up.

In hindsight, I think the phrase "Im now buttering my trouser snake" works better.

Oh and before they hung up, I asked "Do you really believe all the stuff you are telling me, or are you just reading it out because you've been told to"

    He said he believed it.

I said "Well in that case youre the last person I want to have messing with my computer because it really was a load of old sh1te". I would have had some respect for him had he admitted he was talking sh1te, but hey, its a job and they pay me well to scam whiteys.

  • Had another call last evening about 6.30p,, allegedly fdoing a market survery for Anglian Water. Asked to speak to Mr...who had answered the phone, he elicited what the call was about, then told the caller he wasn't at home. Caller ended the call we will phone back another time to speak to him.

Anglian Water our water supplier, bill paid, so not a call for missed payment, why are they doing a market survey? Oh we are registered with TPS... we are ex directory and we do not give our phone number to anyone..hmm might ring Anglian Water and see if there is market survey being done...

Cant believe they called again!!! Twice in one day.

"Are you sitting in front of the computer?" "No Im lying naked on my bed".

Didn't both with the buttered snake this time, went straight into the "oh ohh ohhhhhhh" routine. She was still yabbering on about Windows etc but when I hit the "oh ohhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhhhhh" part of the routine, she hung up.

It is a shame, because I have worked with some really good Indians over the years, but unfortunately it appears that for scamming, India is the new Nigeria.
