i registered with TPS and it has reduced some of the nuisance calls. we used to get five or six a day. now thats down to only one.
so they are doing their bit.
it seems its overseas calls that slip through the net though. and this is beyond their scope.
its about time cold calling in general was made illegal.0 -
The latest calls we've been bombarded with are a recorded message telling us that we haven't claimed our free boiler and cavity wall insulation.
They ring a few times a day, so we now let all calls go to the answerphone.
I don't see what good this investigation will do.0 -
I'm registered with TPS so when I get a cold call, I report it on their website.

I never get any feedback so I've no idea whether any notice is taken of my complaint.0 -
All I want is a free Call Reject if there is no Caller ID.
Lately the Indians are claiming to be Italians calling from Italy.
What's all that about? Do they think I'm more likely to talk to an Italian?0 -

I had an exchange with an Scottish person that went "..........so why are you breaking the law?"
- I am not, I am phoning from Spain !0 -
Considering the TPS have taken literally NO action against companies whom persist calling registered members, its all too little too late. Unless they bear their teeth and take action and stop spouting hollow words then it'll still be referred to as the Totally Pointless Service.0

It's interesting that the ICO are boasting that they intend to do something about this.
I reported spam text messages to them 2 or 3 years ago, and they told me to stop wasting their time.
It took them about 2 years to start making a big deal out of their decisive action on that subject.
I've contacted them 3 times by email to report spam emails being received at an email address that must have been illicitly purloined direct from a mobile phone company's database, that other personal details have also been thieved from there, and that all the alleged marketing opt-in agreements are forged in the name of other companies who are unaware of their name being taken in vain, and thus that the legitimate companies buying this information in good faith are being defrauded
No reply.0 -
We moved 2 years ago but kept the phone number and in the last year or so have been plagued with these calls.
I tried to register my change of address but the TPS would not allow me to do it online.
To be fair though a few recent calls to the home owner in my name have been decent enough to take me off their records when I have told them I am now renting.

IMHO the TPS aren't just a complete waste of space, I seriously suspect they're part of the problem.
I joined them last year - annoyed at the 3 or 4 spam and scam calls I was getting almost every day - often late in the evening. Since I joined TPS the number has gone up exponentially - I now get over a dozen a day (22 the other day), mostly from withheld numbers, and it's getting worse. Frankly, I'm suspicious. I've ordered a call-blocking box, but I shouldn't have to. I suspect too many people are making money for there to be any will to act positively on this problem.
I can't even ignore withheld numbers, as - for god knows what reason - both my local NHS and Council now withhold their numbers.0 -
If callers withhold their number, that is their right, but it is also yours to refuse. My TrueCall explains that I don't accept such calls and they should release their number, or write. They all manage to release their number to get through - it is their problem, not mine!0
