Can a company charge more for a product if delivered - stating 'free delivery'?

Hi
I wanted to order a tumble dryer from Argos. The model I want has two options - collect from store or delivered - with two separate entries and code numbers on website (so you can't buy the collect from store one and buy a delivery, as with other products). Identical product. The delivered one states 'free delivery'. But it's £179.99 if you collect and £299.99 with 'free delivery'. Can they do this? Only asking as surprise surprise the collect only one is not available in my area! Would I have any argument at being able to order one at the lower price and pay their normal delivery charge?

without delivery

Nothing wrong with that... they are not hiding anything or being misleading are they?
Just a bit disingenuous.
If you like, you can pay £319.94 and have it installed and your old machine taken away...0 -

A regulator could claim the description of 'free delivery' - the price difference is odd though.
As a consuemr though - nothing you can do to force them to sell it to you.0 -
Apparently they have one for collection in Livingstone (Scotland).
But I would take a look at this one for £209 + £19.99 delivery: http://www.bootskitchenappliances.com/product/TCYM750C6P-Hotpoint-Condenser-Tumble-Dryer-White-25056.aspx0 -
You could book a taxi with the extra space and make a good saving compared to order it with 'free delivery'.0

Also in stock at Seaham, Frome, Sunderland (they've got two!), Gateshead, Newcastle, Cramlington, Alnwick, Dumfries, Berwick, Downpatrick, Lanark, Edinburgh ... and several other stores in Scotland.
Do they not wash in the north?0 -

Tried Newcastle and Edinburgh last night. And both those, as well as the 10 nearest stores were out of stock.0 -

I checked a few seconds ago and there is one at Eldon Square and two at Craigleith.0 -
Do we know where the OP lives then?0
