Buying a new laptop advice please!

Hi All,
I would like to buy a new laptop as my current machine has now gone to silicone heaven.
My old laptop was a HP 17" core i3 G72 which I bought for £329 2 years ago. It has served me well and seems to have spoiled me as 15" displays now seem puny to me.
I have seen this laptop on Amazon and it appears to my eyes to be remarkably well priced
*Sorry can't post links yet
Toshiba L870-17X (Mfr#:PSKFPE-00F00MEN)
17.3" LED backlight 1600 x 900 / HD+ Matte Display
3rd Gen Core i5-3230M
4GBx1 DDR3 Ram
500GB 5400 RPM HDD
*** Discrete AMD Radeon HD 7670M - 2 GB DDR3
802.11bgn
Bluetooth 4.0
Gigabit Lan
HDMI, 2 x USB3.0, 1 x USB2.0
Webcam
£387.87 fulfilled by Amazon with free super saver delivery.
Is this actually a good price or am I just not looking hard enough? Are Toshiba laptops well built/reliable? Can you recommend a better alternative 17" instead.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also Toshiba seem to be running some sort of trade in scheme for old laptops for which the website claims I would be eligible for £100.00 cashback If I send them my dead G72 has anybody tried this? Did they get their money without issues?
Thanks

It kept overheating in use and then shutting down to protect itself, if I didn't notice in time. Then one day it shut down and wouldn't turn back on again, no matter what I tried. The led's don't even come on when the adapter is plugged in anymore.0 -

You almost certainly will not get £100 cashback for your broken laptop. What can I trade in?
To qualify for this promotion your trade in laptop must:
- be no more than four (4) years old
- be complete with AC adaptor, battery and DVD drive
- be in good working order with no damage to the screen or keyboard0 -
Thanks for posting the Link!
After reading the terms and conditions more carefully I think that you're correct. There is little or no chance of getting any money for my laptop in the condition it is currently in, at least not via the Toshiba trade-in scheme. Perhaps i'll get someting for it selling it for parts on ebay
What do you think about the price of this laptop. Does it seem like it is worth the money. I am close to buying but I just want to hear a few informed opinions about the machine and the reputation of the company before I do.
Thanks again.0 -

I don't know about that. I feel as though I have had a fair bit of use out of my old machine. Everywhere I went it came with me knocking about in my backpack. Over it's lifetime it survived more than a few drops and multiple spills and kept on ticking right up to the end. Personally I am happy I got as much mileage out of it as I did and can only hope that the next machine lasts as long.
Any opinions on the Toshiba laptop??0 -
I'd expect anything to last more than 2 years, if treated well.
17" screens tend to be heavy.!!

Toshiba are pretty well built devices and I have never had any issues with reliability, how much are you willing to spend?0
