Speeding offence

Hello
I am new to the forum so not really sure what I am doing. My son who has only been driving for 6 months already has 3 points on his license for speeding and was stopped again at the weekend for speeding again. Doing 46 in a 30. I understand that he will get a court summons about this. My questions is as I would like to be able to represent him when this happens, what is the procedure. I know it can take a while to come through, but when it does do you get a date straight away or do you have a length of time to reply. The reason I ask is because I have a holiday booked early September and I am now worried this will coincide with this.
Hope this makes sense.

Do you really need to represent him?

Unless there any extenuating circumstances, such as a medical emergency, then it should really be a clear cut case when he was caught going more than 50% over the limit.

Personally I would let him go on his own, and then get the bus home when he receives his probably ban. And maybe it will teach him a lesson, and to take responsibility for his own actions.

    He won't get a ban for 46 in a 30.

He'll attend court and get points. At some stage the dvla will write to him and revoke his licence.

You'd best off not listening to Carter who makes things up as he goes along.

It's unlikely to be heard by early september, but if that is the date on the summons he can ask for a later one.

As I said it will be revoked, he will not be disqualified. The court could do it but shouldn't do it to bypass revocation. 4-6 points is likely if they don't offer a ticket.

You must be very understanding. My father would do the opposite of stick-up for/represent me if I was breaking the limit by that much!

I thought that as a new driver if he gets 6 points he'll lose his license and then have to take the test again. I don't think there are any extenuating circumstances really, are there?
