We are having an issue with our Sky wireless broadband.
We have 2 laptops, my sons and mine. Mine is used downstairs in the lounge where the router is situated.
My son uses his on the 3rd floor of the house where he has his own sitting room.
Both laptops were new at Xmas and are the same make.
Mine is working fine but my sons is always losing connection and his laptop shows the connection is very week.
We have rung sky who have talked him through changing the setting on his laptop but nothing is helping. He is constantly being disconnected several times a day.
Is this a router problem or more likely to be a laptop problem?
This is happening every day

Its a wireless range problem.
Two solutions, a pair of Powerline homeplugs, so he can connect using Ethernet, or a wireless extender, to continue to use the Laptop wirelessly.
I assume his laptop works OK when its nearer the router.

Walls, floors, and other things massively reduce the range of the router.
As penrhyn suggested, powerline adaptors are a great option and a wireless extender would allow devices like mobile phones to get a decent connection up there too.0
