I think the affected user should try contacting the Forum Team by email :)

The user referred to in that thread does not appear to have logged into MSE for almost 2 years, so presumably it's a different user you are calling a 'regular poster'

If you change your registered email address but don't get the validation email through, you can log on and browse, but not post or do anything else.

CP last posted on 30/07/13, so while they can log on they may still not be able to post?

You can keep changing the email until you find one that the validation email comes through on though, so that might be worth them trying in the meantime?

I moderate on a different forum and the usual thing is that whatever you need to click on is in the user's SPAM folder. Always worth checking there first.

    Possible.

However, the problem after the forum upgrade has been that email to some domains for some people has simply not been arriving. Not in any spam folder, filtered by server side stuff like spamassisin, just nowhere. Even happened for people who have their own server/domain and direct access to mail, so no possibility of it getting diverted. It has been very odd.
