Just another thought on the lodger point. My empty nest neighbors rent out 2 of their bedrooms, specifically to students. They have 1-2 at a time, from age 16-early 20's (at uni).
As they tend to get foreign students, most of them are quite serious about their studies and learning English. It would be a possibility to focus on female only. It's a nice little bit of tax-free income as they keep it below the rent a room threshold of 4250. Also, their students are usually only here for a semester, so they keep the holidays such as Christmas as just family.0 -
Could you get a short term loan from your ex husband, pay off the HP on your millstone of a car and having already set up a buyer, quickly sell the car. Then pay back your ex and buy a car for a more realistic amount - say £3000 to 5000 for something economical and reliable. ?
I'm in negative equity with the car so that's not really a feasible option at the moment sadly.LBM 18/06/15 - [STRIKE]£20,276.64[/STRIKE]

I'm living in a house that I bought for £160 12 years ago and is the family home for my children. I received 40k early inheritance that I used to pay my ex, the house was always 100% in my name and as court decided what amount to pay him.
Macbook was a FREE replacement via Applecare for a 3 yr old one that went wrong 2 mths before the warranty was up.
If you look at my SOA you will see that I have racked up debt, hence being on this board.
That's how this worksLBM 18/06/15 - [STRIKE]£20,276.64[/STRIKE]

Thank you ever so much for your helpful advice. A friend of mine works in a local school and am going to put up a notice in the staff room saying that I have a room available for any NQT'sLBM 18/06/15 - [STRIKE]£20,276.64[/STRIKE]
