This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Another flying visit while I get ready for work but it's my last day in this week and then I have a lovely long 4 day weekend.

Did the hokey cokey with the washing last night but the intermittent showers won in the end so the in out in out and shake it all about was defeated! It's now all in the basket and will try again this evening or failing that, tomorrow.

Sold a couple of ebay listings and an Amazon book last night so DH is going to post them for me today. DH is out training tonight will so list a few 99p starts on ebay with small bits and pieces, currently all over my desk.

Salads for lunch and salmon with stir fried beanshoots, cabbage and mushrooms for dinner, I need to be really good and improve on last week's pathetic excuse for a weight loss.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Morning chums bright sunshine at the moment here in north Kent ,but not too sure how long it will last.I went to a quiz night last night and had a great time.Brilliant night out, and the cost was £2.00 and we had a chicken curry supper thrown in for free as well:):) Its running every Tuesday and so it will be a regular visit I think. Our team came second and we won a bottle of wine and two free vouchers for lunch at the pub.
This morning I have my gardener arriving so I have to nip round to sort the boys out then return by ten to let the gardener in.I shall bring the boys back with me and they can 'help' him :):):)
Tonight I have a re-arranged appointment with the consultant at 7.10 so I may get to hear when my op. is.
No shopping to buy at least, and tonight I will be having dinner at DDs
Time for tea methinks :0 Have a good day whatever you are doing

    Good Morning everyone :j

Yay, we survived out trip to Plymouth yesterday. Actually, although it was very stressfull rushing for buses and trains it has given me more confidence that I can do it now so much in fact that we have planned to return to go to Plymouth Aquarium near the end of August. I have to admit I cheated though and caught a taxi to the rink as I would never have found my way there . :o Thank you for all the helpful suggestions and hugs though. The girls had a great time, DD13 looked like Bambi on ice though as she is going through the gangly stage and she is all arms and legs at the moment .:D DD12 took to it straight away and managed not to fall over once and my little DD10 bless her, I think she spent more time on her bottom than standing but they all had a great laugh and it was really nice spending time with them all together.

I'm having a very quiet day today to recover, Mr T will be delivering sometime this morning and I will be doing some washing and preparing tea, but that's about it. We are having liver and onions tonight so I must go and dig it out of the freezer.

Well that's about it for me so far, JackieO hope everything goes well at your appointment tonight and you get a date for surgery.
Take care and gentle hugs for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Light cloud and overcast with a bit of a breeze here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was HM spag bol, ice creams for dessert. Tonight we will be having lamb casserole, potatoes, and veg.

Work was horrendous again yesterday - I'm so glad I'm only working until lunchtime today and then not back in until Monday morning, so looking forward to finishing next Wednesday lunchtime. We will be shooting off to the next town when I get back from work today as both boys need a few bits for our hols - so want to get that done.

Take it easy everyone, and remember the suncream if you're out in the sun x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Terrible day here yesterday, I went out for an appointment late afternoon and OH phoned me on the way back he was frantic, the chap over the road had hung himself in the garden, his son had been over and hammered on the door to ask OH for help.
OH phoned 999 and was on the phone to them as he run over, my poor OH had to cut him down and cut the rope from his neck to see if there was still a pulse, he was unfortunatly long gone. The road was swarming with police / ambulance for hours. They have 6 kids over there most of them are grown, but the twins are only around 6 :(. Obviously the chap had mental health issues, but its the ones he left behind I feel for, the young lad came over and knocked to say thank you to my OH, and they both hugged and sobbed, it was heartbreaking to see.

Looking back now I had seen the chap put a ladder up against the trees earlier in the day, I thought he was cutting them back (he was always doing this) and when i looked about 20 mins later he was still there, he was probably already gone, just wish we could have done something to help the poor man.

Today I will be doing the usual jobs, washing / cleaning, but make sure you give your loved ones an extra hug today.

    Have good days all xx

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

  • Good morning all,
Redruby, what an awful day for you all. Hugs for you and your family. Terribly sad for the family x
Jackie, I hope your appointment goes well.
Moorhen, hope the funeral goes as well as it can x
It rained quite heavy on and off all day yesterday. Didn't bother hanging the washing out so i will try to get it out today. It looks a bit dull out there at the moment. Not sure if we are due rain.
Need to have a hoover through and a quick tidy round.
Tea last night was a takeaway as it was our anniversary. How the years fly by. Back to cooking tonight. Chicken with hg potatoes and either salad or veg.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.
