Hiya, Im from russia, so would like to shed some light on this.

Insurance in Russia is mandatory, ust lik ein the UK, but a great many people try to scam the insurance companies/drivers, but cutting accross and slamming breaks on etc. So alot of driver fit these cameras to try combat this.

The standard of driving in russia varies accross a huge range. But should be pointed out that videos like this can give inaccurate impression on the general level. No-one is putting up videos where nothing happens after all.

I'm sure if drivers in the UK used these cameras to such a high degree, we'd see similar videos, and that would go for any country.
