Jimmy Choo Shoes!

They'd be able to assess the general state of the shoe - how worn the sole is, whether the leather looks like it's moved a lot as the foot flexes, how much weather damage there is etc. and compare this with the damage to the strap. The two should equate. If the shoe itself is in good nick (which it will be having only been worn 10 times) yet the strap is completely broken, then there's every likelihood that the strap was badly made and a repair should be possible under the SOGA.
I'd want a pair of Jimmy Choos to last for many years. You don't wear them often, they're statement pieces and if looked after you should be able to hang on to a pair for years. The price of something is very much part of the expected life and expensive shoes like this should last longer than 10 wears."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
You pay for the name, materials don't come into it, if you want well made shoes with good materials buy clarkes.
If you buy Jimmy Choos shoes you don't care about the materials, you care about the status you think the shoes give you and the boosting rights to your friends.
So no, in designer cases like this an £20 pair of shoes can very easily out last a designer, status has it's own price tag.0 -
That is simply not true. Designer hand crafted shoes and bags should last years.
You are not simply paying for the name, that is what people say who have never owned a pair.
They'll on the whole be hand crafted, not machine made, good quality leather, not uppers, pvc, or bad quality leather. Good quality stitching.
They should last more than 10 light wears. The price IS taken into account if it gets to small claims, so it is entirely relavant and not just because it is a label. So "opinions" on brand snobbery are not really helping op with her consumer rights.
As for Clarks, don't get me started. You'll see plenty of threads on here, kids shoes especially where they are not what they used to be. I agree and don't buy them anymore, I find kickers, can well, take a kicking.0 -

How do you know how people who buy Jimmy Choos think? Have you surveyed every single one of them? Anyway, that's neither or nor there. In terms of legal rights, the price of goods is a factor. A £300 pair of shoes will be expected to last longer than a pair you bought off the market for a fiver and the law will be on your side."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

It depends, some brands are very much about the name, some brands are a combination of the name and the materials etc.
Personally I would not associate Clarkes with good materials in any way shape or form. They may be ok for their price point but a pair of their formal shoes for me lasts less than a quarter the time of a high end brand and at that point the branded shoes need resoling where as the clarkes are only fit for the bin.
Price is a factor in calculating what a reasonable life is however there is ultimately a ceiling as to how long a pair of shoes will last no matter if they are $100 or $50,000. As the items are over 6 months old its up to you to prove the issue is not down to neglect rather than for the store to disprove it.
Personally, I would take them into a proper Jimmy Choo store, ideally one of their bigger ones, and speak to them. If needs be loudly in the middle of the store (though politely). The items are clearly going to be branded and they change their designs often enough for them to know the maximum age just by looking at them.
My wife broke the heel of her Louboutin shoes that were a similar price as yours. Probably was her fault but taking them in store they had no qualms about sorting it free of charge and didnt ask anything about where/ when they'd been bought etc.0
