Banking App's

So i haven't seen a thread on this yet so i thought i would start one.

How many people use the App's banks have made to manage their accounts?

I have accounts with 4 different banks and have all their apps and use them most days to check everything is working ok and the way i want it to.

Now for the interesting thing once you have done a payment once using the online bank via the apps you can do it again without having to go over all the safety stuff like when using a computer. so i have been using the apps to move around the £1k to qualify for the bigger interest rates. it takes seconds far quicker then the computer.

What are your thoughts on banking apps and what do you use them for?

I regret, I can't vote in your poll because there is no option for "I don't care about mobile banking apps".

You could argue that this is because I am (turning into) a dinosaur but I honestly can't see the point about banking apps.

Thinking about it in a bit more detail, if I was still working (which I am not, me lucky devil!!!), I might want to check my updated balance on the journey into work in the morning....so may be you were right when you thought I am turning into a dinosaur. I intend to be one for a few more decades though.

Anything that gives people more options to keep a check on their accounts is a good thing.

Yes but what I would really like to see, although I doubt it will ever happen, is one app that can keep track of all my accounts.

I use the Natwest banking app daily, to check my balance and do any necessary transfers. It's much quicker for me to log in and make changes using the app than it is for me to use a browser.

I very rarely log in to the browser, now.

I would think in a small box room somewhere in the world there is a geek working this out. :rotfl: but i must say i don't mind it being on different apps.

Hopefully :p I suppose it might be considered too high a risk, as you'd presumably only have one login for the app in order to gain access to all those accounts. It'd need two step verification at least!

I wouldn't give up hope - we have had this forever with aggregator services like accountunity [IE only, it seems - - but who cares when they can see all their accounts in one place?] that have served many of us well for years and that will no doubt be around for a lot longer. Not sure whether they would need "app" versions - - - anyone on the Internet (and registered) can access their accounts as they need to, using whatever web interface their bank provides.

May be the whole thing can be sexed up for the mobile world, but as far as I am concerned, I am very happy with the information I can get to now, from my home PC or from my tablet or phone.

I get text messages from my accounts if anything changes, else I only really login from home/work and never from my mobile. I'm not that desperate to see my balance or make a transfer.

I find it helpful if you need to make a payment to someone you have before its almost easier than a SO its so quick and you can do it when you want.

for me the FD app is one of the best then its Barclays then Nationwide then Santander. am i the only one that finds Santander's online and app hard to use?

Search for onTrees in the App Store. I tried it and it was basically exactly what you describe - one app which can display balances and transactions for a huge variety of accounts, including some pretty obscure ones.

The only catch is you have to give it all of the security details you use to log in. They say it's got "bank level" security but they don't say what that actually means. I deleted in my account in the end because I'm not entirely convinced it's safe.
