Just look on autotrader, find cars similar to yours and see what they are advertised at. Knock off 25% for a ball park figure on older cars.
Either that or a completed listings search on ebay will give you an idea of what the bottom end of the market is doing.
PT Cruisers? Can't give them away. The market is awash with them and the kind of people who want a kooky looking car are busy financing new Nissan Jukes.0 -
Changing the subject very slightly, sorry, I had never heard of Wisebuyers before.
Just had a quick look, gives Mk4 Golf top marks for quality and reliability;

Shall not be ever looking for their opinion again, utter madness and utter sh*te.
I was meaning to get an idea on price rather than a review0 -

When the PT cruiser came out it reminded me of the mob films goodfellas, road to perdition etc. Really wanted it - but the pt cruiser has grown out of me now.
There's a nice wee Alfa Romeo out just now which looks pretty retro. The actual name escapes me.0 -

In addition to the various things wrong with it (ie tyres need pumping up every few days, exhaust knocks against tow bar, heated rear window not heating up, no radio, screen wash blockage as not coming out, a bit rattly and squeaky.) at the moment, it's now got a power steering leakage which will cost about £300 to put right.
So call it £400, for another couple of years motoring. Bargain. Fix it.
Rear window is not a worry, radio is irrelevant, screen wash blockage might take you a few minutes of head scratching, exhaust might just be that it's popped off it's rubber mount. Tyres need refitting. Hardly a reason to change.
Power streering is just one of those irritating costs which come around if you keep a car long enough. Like triggers broom, if you have enough of that type of repair, you end up with a new car anyway :rotfl:
As for valuations. I usually just do an autotrader search and see what people are asking for them privately, then knock 50% off if you are attempting to trade it in at a dealer.0 -

I had a V6 petrol auto hire car in the states about 4 years ago, for 2 weeks whilst attending a wedding.
The Blokes were ashamed to admit it was actually built in the USA, believing it to be a rubbish car, and the women all loved it cause "it's sooooo cute"
I'd use the words : Style before substance...
I can't think of a worse hire car I've driven, but if I had one with the faults you describe, i'd get it fixed, and start saving to buy a "decent" car in about 3 years.0 -

The only way to stop the cheap Chinese tyres leaking the air out is to fit an inner tube.Be happy...;)0

They way you actually do it is to pull the tyre off the rim, clean the beading, and refit with fresh sealant.
Either that or get a set of wheels in better condition from a breaker/scrapyard, and fit the tyres to them. Might even get some better condition tyres too.0
