    From the 2 answers above I think we need another poll:rotfl:
    i think it takes great will power to survive on a couple of yucky chemical milk shakes a day or sit and count calories all the time or fast every week or cut out carbs. I think a lot of fat peopel do have will power and are not lazy.

    But, and I'm shocked to my very core to say this, I'm in agreement with you for the rest of the post. I do believe that a lot of weight loss is actually in the mind. Hence why I'm only just, at the age of 30, losing the weight I put on in my teens. I was always too lazy before.

    As for simplifying my weight loss with numbers, it was just easier to do that. If i went in to detail about EXACTLY how I'd lost the weight and what I ate from week to week I'd still be writing the post now :p

    Although they are both 200 calories, the butter will not give a sugar spike like the carbs and therefore not so much of a blood sugar drop after a short while. The butter will therefore stave off hunger pangs for longer, so I say the high carb energy bar has the potential to make one eat more and put on weight.

    Should have read the whole thread. If we're talking weight loss, I got rid of 62 lbs in a year by changing what I eat. My older daughter is Coeliac and I thought it may come from my side of the family. I therefore gave up bread, cake, biscuits, beer, pizza and pasta etc. Then I found I was not losing weight so I started counting calories and found my healthy breakfast was approaching 900 calories. My daily two egg (spinach or mushrooms fried in butter or coconut oil) omelette comes in at 400-450 calories.

    Do I miss bread etc? Yes I do. Is it worth it? Absolutely as the reading I have been doing shows that most grains are actually harmful to a very high percentage of the population, not just the 10% or so with Coeliac Disease or gluten intolerance. People will say my food regime is restrictive but I'd rather concentrate on the extraordinary number of healthy foods I do eat and thoroughly enjoy.

    I have to pay a bit more to feed myself but it costs the taxpayer a lot less as I now no longer take two blood pressure medications, statins regarding my "high cholesterol" or the steroid inhaler for late onset asthma that has now cleared up.

    I eat more animal fat/coconut oil and not so much carbohydrate/sugar and do not feel hungry like I used to at 12:00 and 17:00 every day. I did not exercise to start with as that makes me hungry. Now I walk a couple of miles a day and do body weight strength training for ten minutes-ish once or twice a week.

    I am more fit and healthier than I have been for some fifteen years. Will I go back to eating wheat, rye, barley & oats? Only trifle, Christmas Cake and Christmas pudding at Christmas. I will also have the occasional beer when I fancy it.

    I must admit that I could not have done it without treats. 25gms of Aldi's 70% cocoa solid chocolate every day and wine three days a week.
