In theory 200 calories is 200 calories, but I imagine you'd burn off the 200 calories of sugar more easily than 200 cals of fat.

Trick question? Both are 200 cals

I imagine the butter, which is extremely high in fat. The fat will be stored as deposits until (if) it is needed, at which point it is converted to energy. When the body exercises, sugar is used as an energy source first before fatty deposits are raided.

So, although both the butter and energy bar contain the same energy, the high-fat butter will take longer to "burn off" and so will make you fatter.

I voted neither but now I think about it I think the high-carb would be more likely to make you gain weight.

Your body processes calories from different sources differently. In actual fact, there's really no such thing as a generic calorie when it comes to the human body.

However the OP isn't always as helpful as their username makes out...

Oh, and the high-carb bar will trigger insulin production, and will be a TON more processed than the butter, and you'll want another one shortly after you've eaten the first.

Fat in food sates you and means you won't eat so much. Low fat dieting often involves loads of empty processed food.

The Energy bar will make you fatter
The energy bar - the carbs will cause an insulin spike and your body will lay down more fat as a result.

If all you eat is 200 calories - then you will not get fat whichever one it is, you'll waste away and die!

So, the real question is what ELSE are you eating!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Surely it depends on your lifestyle?

If your very active and eat an additional 200kcals, if it comes from carbs your body is going to want to use it for energy for your active lifestyle as this is the primary use for carbs (fuel for movement).
But if your not active your body will store those extra calories because it has no need for any extra fuel as your not moving around enough.

With butter, if you were to eat just plain butter, your not going to feel as energetic/find activity as easy to do as if you are an carb-heavy energy bar so your not going to want to move around as much or feel as able to as your body has to work far harder to obtain those 200kcals for energy if they all came from fat. So your slower and move less and there is likely to be more calories left over from not using them all up at the end of the day, thus either active or not I'd say your more likely to gain more (weight stored as body fat) from the butter. But only if you did that sort of thing every day.

Lot of post views and comparatively few people prepared to put their mo0ney where their mouth is which I am surprised at when you considder the different diets on here. maybe I should have added 200 Calories of muller light into the equation.

So far I think best answer even though it is not what I was looking for must go to Toothsmith.:rotfl:
