Trying to reduce tv/phone/broadband costs...

I am moving at the weekend and having been a Virgin Media customer for years, I wasn't very impressed with their quote to install their services in my new place, so I have decided to get rid of them.
I have arranged to have Broadband and a phone line installed and am now going to make do with the freeview that is already on my TV. However, I like to record programmes and watch them at a later date, so can anyone recommend a suitable freeview recorder please?
I also quite like the look of netflix, so should I buy a recorder that supports it (the only one seems to be a Panasonic model which is around £200), or should I buy something cheaper and then get a roku box on top for the streaming...
I'm a bit bamboozled by all the options at the moment, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you checked that you can receive an adequate Freeview signal at your forthcoming new premises?
If not, Freesat (with a dish) may provide a better alternative.
Actually, a Freeview HD television (with aerial) and a Humax Freesat HD recorder (with dish) makes a very nice combination. You have redundancy and the full spread of free channels (which aren't quite the same on each platform).Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance
