Work programme - should I be on it?

In September 2011 I was put on the work programme but did not attend any meetings with the work provider because i signed off job seekers allowance and found a job. Due to my contract ending at work, I have had to re-sign back on (July 2013) and am told I'm still under the "2 year work programme". I have just been offered a new job today but the contract for this job does not start until September. Do I tell the job centre on my next signing day about getting a new job (I would usually do it on my last signing day) and request to be removed from the programme? It seems very pointless putting me on a 7 week "course" that I won't finish when I start actual work in four weeks?? Is this something that can be done??

If you were referred in September 2011 you have to be on it till 2013 September so yes is the answer

You would have had to not sign back on till after the referral date to not go back on it

If you have a new job you have to sign off before they can take you off it again like when you got the 1st job

Well they sell it as a "course" and claim it costs them £700 per person because at the end of the "course", you get some sort of betting license certificate.

Eh? What course is this? this is the WP you are talking about? Seriously?

Or are the WP sending you on a course?

    Costs who? The WP provider?

yes this is defo the work programme i'm talking about. They are sending me on a course and say it costs them £700 yet I won't even be there to complete it so it seems like a waste of money for them?

    That's their problem, not yours

Your job in September might yet fall through. Go on the course, it might come in helpful in the future. And be grateful the WP are doing something for you, such an experience is rare!

It definitely won't fall through, I've signed the contract already and its in the field i trained in whereas this is actually nothing to do with anything related to my field of work and i think i'm only on it cause i'm female and wouldn't look right on the construction course!

not to put a downer on it but any job offer can be retracted before you start

Have you asked what is the relevance of the course and they know you have a job so you wont complete the course?

Lets hope you have not signed the consent form!!
