Have loads and loads of empty cardboard boxes and need to get rid of them. Will it cost or are there free places to take them? I will google it too but just wanting some personal feedback

Offer them free to collector on your local Freecycle or Facebook freebie site.0
-
People buy them where I live. I heard they sell them to some sort of factory.0

Is it random cardboard boxes, or moving boxes? If moving boxes, then freecycle/similar. If random cardboard boxes then find a recycling centre and go down when they're open.0

I took to the local recycling centre and they told me bog off as it was business wasteThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Offer them on Freecycle or your local equivalent.
There are recycle craft shops around the country who supply recyclable waste to schools, craft clubs etc at a reasonable price. Google for your nearest.
Too early in the year for a bonfire ;-)0 -

Op, as you have asked this within the Business section of the forum, does this mean that the cardboard boxes etc are from an ongoing business? If so you should really be registered with your LA to have 'business collections' as you could get into serious issues if found to use the domestic waste system. You should also adhere to strict storage controls.
I have heard of businesses being fined for not having the correct disposal systems in place.
If however you are a charity some LA's allow you to use the domestic waste system if you register with them.0 -

Yes business (from home)
What is LA?
Also I phoned the council and the charges quoted to collect cardboard from a business were laughable (over £100)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

LA = Local Authority
Unfortunately this is one of the costs of running a business, you need to have a commercial waste collection service if you are generating commercial waste, we pay around £40 a month for a 1100L wheelie bin emptied twice a month but this also covers us for the waste transfer.
They are cracking down on companies not using proper waste disposal, we recently had an officer from Environmental health wanting to see what we had in place to deal with our waste.
Also technically if you took the waste to a recycling center in a vehicle you also committed an offense unless you hold an Enviornment Agency Waste Transfer Transportation license0 -
its just cardboard though, why does it have to so complicated.
I have found a Recycling company who says I can take it to them free of charge
