Right to buy council house

Hi
Last October we purchased our council flat through the RTB we planned to stay their 5 years and sell to enable us to buy a house as we have 2 children.
We are in a position now where we dont need to wait 5 years to move and we want to buy another property now but are unable to sell the flat due to repaying the discount.
I contacted our local council and they have agreed to us letting it out in their own words "you brought it you can do what you want with it" We just have to let them know so they can amend our buildings insurance and pass on our new address for mail.
As far as I am aware there is no clause to in the RTB to prevent you from letting it out. You just need to check the mortgage you have, we are on a resendential mortgage but have consent to let agreed for 4 years until we sell.
Hope this helps.0 -
It still doesnt make sense to me
why suddenly move to live with you?
would they be living rent free with you?
I'm hoping the plan is to move in with the OP for five years and pay a below market rent to their offspring and that during this period the government bring in a new law for private renters/lodgers to buy their rental homes at a huge discount. Then hopefully they exercise this right and buy their off springs home at a very low price.
Oh hang on0
