    There are good/bad people in all walks of life. Stick to resolving the particular issues in this situation without making unhelpful and inaccurate generalisations.

    fully agree with what you say G_M. when the poster says they are "aware" the previous tenant was supposedly harrassed. how exactly? witnessed or just heresay.
    Teamwork means.......never having to take all the blame yourself ;)

    You can't ignore the legal point of view! The law defines the agreement that the LL made with the T

    T can give one tenancy month notice to quit
    LL can give two tenancy months notice of proceedings

    It is very clear in law that a LL cannot unilaterally end a tenancy and there is no obligation on a T to leave before the tenancy ends! This is a business, not a friendship so LL shouldn't really expect better than the agreement they made with the T.
