Charged for a text to 80011? Never used this number?!

i checked my bill as i always do, and there's charge for a text to "80011".

i never sign up to any daft premium services and never text any numbers like this.

can't find out anything about it online.

called my carrier - virgin mobile - and got through to someone in philippines by the sounds of it. really hard to understand her - and think she felt the same.

she was saying these things can be signed up for "by accident, when browsing"...?

it was only for 10p, they say they'll refund but i don't want this to happen again. she says text STOP to this number, but i'm not keen to do this. wouldn't this just acknowledge my number to them (same as emailing back a spammer?).

anyone have any idea about this sort of thing..??

I wouldn't text back. It will just notify the spammer you're number is active and they'll sell your number to other spammers.

Sounds like this number is a spam where you are charged for receiving the text. You need to tell Virgin about it again and ask for a refund and to have the number blocked for you. Put it in writing so if it happens again they can't say you accepted the first one.
