My daughter and i bought Finepix F700 cameras about 2 years ago, ( at the same time )she does not use hers much I use mine quite a lot. Hers went funny about 2 months ago the pictures are now purple. At the shop they said it needed a new chip cost about £100. Now mine as gone the same thing. The cameras where about £299 so they should last longer, As anyone else had problems or can give any advice.

Ask the shop to repair them both. 2 years isn't long enough."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Been back to shop Wilkinsons in Preston and they said they were out of guarantee.0

Ooh not too far (I live near Blackpool). Doesn't matter about the guarantee, under the Sale of Goods Act you are entitled to a repair or replacement if an inherent fault develops within a reasonable time up to six years. I'd personally expect a digital camera at the cost you mentioned to last longer than two years. Why do shops seem to go along as if legal consumer rights don't exist."She is quite the oddball. The downside with quoting the Act is that if the shop is really stubborn then you are going to have to go ahead and take them to small claims court. The fact that both your cameras developed exactly the same fault I think would stand you in good stead with a magistrate in demonstrating it's something inherent."She is quite the oddball. It is a design fault, Fuji issued an advisory on it
enter "fuji finepix f700 forum uk" into Google and you will find
"Important Service Advisory: FinePix A303, F410, F700 - Fujifilm ...Fuji Service Advisory for the Finepix A303, F410 and F700 ..... I'm so glad I found this forum! I purchased the F700 in Seattle two and a half years ago and ...

An excerpt is
"The symptoms are captured images that appear completely black, have a purplish cast or multi- colored distortions. These symptoms would be seen on the camera LCD monitor when the camera is in the shooting mode or during playback. A limited number of these models will have these problems.""
I would advise you to check your serial numbers & contact Fuji UK regarding this as the site is US one but probably applies to UK ones as wellNumerus non sum0 -
Probably best to try farway's suggestion first as it will be less hassle. If you don't get anywhere with that then your legal contract is with the retailer you bought them from if you need to pursue it."She is quite the oddball. Thanks to all replies :T just been onto Fuji and they are sending me prepaid envelopes to send them back they said that it sounded like the recognised fault, the telephone number if anyone needs it is 02075861477. Will let you know how I get on.0

And again the manufacturer is far more helpful than the retailer even though it's the retailer not the manufacturer who are legally responsible."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I had a similar thing last year.
Took my Finepix F601 Zoom to repairers (well out of warranty. 3yo camera)
He did a repair for £40 ish, which only lasted a couple of weeks.
Took it back to him (under his warranty)
He sent it back to Fuji, who sent me a brand new camera, with apologies.
Very pleased with Fuji.
I can't remember customer service like this with anyone else.Neil0 -
Fuji sent prepaid bags and I sent them back last Monday received them back on Saturday. They have replaced the CCD in them. This is the chip responsible for light capture and image creation. Again thanks to all replies what a great site.:T0
