I am finding this quite difficult to comprehend.I have had nothing but excellent service from plusnet, great help and advice when you call them and at a really good price.Unless anything has changed i pay for a year's line rental at a time(now in my second year) and just £4 per month to make a call at any time which to me is a real bargain.

I would call them,it is a freephone number and go through all your concerns.Give them a chance and i am sure they will be able to help.

I think a lot of people (inc. many Plusnet subscribers)were unaware of the removal of free Evenings and Weekends call from the Line Rental Saver offer - I renewed mine in June so got the old LRS price and kept my free package but I'm not sure I'd go for the Plusnet LRS now if I was switching as with monthly rental you can opt for E/W calls as an add on @ £1.50pm.
Froglet - your calls package for new customers is not available with LRS and is £5 pm now.

Did you switch from TT thinking you got like for like as the cost 99p a month for caller display is clearly shown.. Plusnet use to offer inclusive E&W calls but they dont any longer, only Weekend ones where as TT still do. Irrespective of whether you pay monthly or or in a lump sum you can opt in for inclusive weekend calls. ( Weekend is Sat and Sunday Only by the way, not 7pm Fri to 6am Monday like it has been in the past on some plans.)

If its any help you can still use www.18185.co.uk with Plusnet which will keep the cost of most non inclusive landline calls down.

thanks.

I must use the wrong wording, I mean I switch even I have to pay more for something that was free from Talk Talk. I don't mean to saying bad for paying that.

thanks for the tips about 18155.

Now I don't have any ' call plan', I have to find out if I could ring up 18155 (and the cost). Nowadays, land line charges is quite expensive.

I think I would get a cheap monthly mobile phone deal instead of paying plusnet because they really annoy me with such act.

I would definitely switch at the end of contract.

thanks for your advice,

I did understand I have to pay 99p for the caller display, I didn't annoyed by that, I must use wrong wording to mislead you. I mean I switch even I could get that free from talk talk.

and thanks for the link, I just learnt that even I am not on 'any call plan' I could get free phone calls to any 0800 lines

Trygetback,

Thanks for warning others about this.

I switched to Plusnet from O2 last week and had been going to take Line Rental Saver + Weekends Plan, but decided to take LRS + Anytime instead, otherwise I would have been in exactly the same position as you.

Now that you've mentioned this, I see it says on the Home Phone FAQ page that the Weekends Plan is " •Not available with Line Rental Saver. Customers on this plan will be switched to Line only if Line Rental Saver is taken".

Elsewhere, on the Legal page, it says "Line Rental Saver taken out on/before 7th May 2013 includes evening and weekend landline calls as standard, Line Rental Saver taken out on/after 8th May 2013 includes no calls as standard."

They definitely need to make this a lot clearer when you sign up, as you've found to your cost. :(

Thanks to your kind words

As I said before, I did go through all the FAQ pages (home phone/broadband/package details/switch) and the term and conditions page. They are placed it normal like any websites.

I learnt about no free calls from link provided by the plusnet's 4th reply.

I could tell you it's very hard to find out unless you are directed.

now I have a bit free time, I use reverse to find out how general user could find it.

1) home page
2) on the top, click on support and help
ps I would never dream of go there since there are others FAQ pages available and I always think that is for the already registered Plusnet customers.
My previous providers : talk talk/BT, their support and help page is for registered customers for any bills/technical problems not for a potential switcher.
3) at 'support and help' pages, click on 'support page' at the left column

4) choice phone
5) choice 'home phone' FAQ
ps this page is very different with another home phone FAQ page even they are the same title (that is displayed by web-designer as friendly use to spot and view)
6) at this page, roll down to no 2) what calls are available?

on paper it sounds easy to locate, just roughly 6 clicks. But believe me they are very discreet (please see the above : ps)

Please note :

I think you still better to get the landline saver and then add on £1.50 evening and weekend calls if you want to switch to Plusnet unlimited broadband and calls, it is still cheaper

£4.99 unlimited broadband + £14.50 line rental (include plus weekends - note only free weekend calls) =£19.49

if you choice line advance that would be £131.88 (12 months)
ps I have to pay it at once and pay a month phone rental fee at the same time, total=
£136.87

then as I found out that one would be on 'no call plan'

then you could go to 'product change' at your plusnet account page and click the button 'change of product'

click 'keep this product'
click continue
click 'I don't need hardware'
click continue
then you would be on the page 'choice home phone producd'
at there, you could choice add on the
'
'Plusnet Evening and Weekends' for £1.50

so now you pay £1.50+ 4.99+10.99 =17.48

please my calculation is for today deal figure and I did not count any other add on (like call display) or any cash back available either from Plusnet or any other cash back site

and do please look around for any terms and restriction before you commit any add on or any commitment

and hope someone could find it useful

Just bought a house and was going to go with Plusnet.

When you sign up online you cannot physically choose free evening and weekend calls with annual line rental.

If you choose monthly line rental you can choose free e&w but if you change to annual it is automatically removed from your basket.

How did you switch? Did you phone them up? When I phoned them to ask them about free e&w calls and annual line rental they told straight away that they didn't offer it.

Hi, I had found out about how to get it cheaper, could you kindly read my post #20

ps thanks to brewerdave, who mention that as well, but at that time I still have no clue what that is until I mess with my account page and (as I queue up for plusnet hotline and nothing to do then find out all these ),

if you don't mind to pay in advance £136.87

then

you might still end up cheaper to have land line saver then add evening/weekend calls then paying £14.50 monthly phone line.

I don't know if you already a Plusnet customer of not.

I am a new customer with them on land line saver, and I see my account page could do that. I switch to them with such term already.

so I am not sure if you could tell them to change from monthly to land saver and then from there to add on this call plan.

If you could pay in advance then it is cheaper and you could get evening calls that is much better from my view.

To everyone posting on this thread, I am very grateful for all your kind response.

In the end (see my post #20), one would argue that isn't so bad...

But I still have to say, I would switch after the contract because I don't like being treated like that. I would not subscribe the £1.50 call plan. I would get a mobile cheap (with free minutes) deal.

One could still dream a better world for everyone. If a customer don't stand firm and express the unfair treatment (like lot of case on BBC watchdog), the business world (like the bank's roughness) would never show us a fair deal.

eg. the mobile phone company might have to let 0800 free for user in the near future. Without the public uproar, they still could charge unfairly loads of money on such note or roaming cost just to add revenue to their directors' hugh pay, bonus and pension.

I am not against the business world at all, I don't think shareholders get the fair deals too. I believe only the directors/politicians gain (not the staffs of those company) only in this country, that's why we go all downhills (such as the lately NHS scandals)
